An Ordinance to amend th~ Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance adopted
by the Board of Commissioners of Richmond County and the City Council
of Augusta effective November 15, 1983, entitled "An Ordinance to
Readopt and Reconfirm the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance adopted
March 25, 1963, by the Board of Commissioners of Richmond County
and the City Council of Augusta, by amending Section 21 (Neighborhood
Business) thereby modifying the current spacing regulations for off-
premises outdoor advertising signs located along roadways designated
as part of the Interstate Highway System,
THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION-COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance is amended by deleting the
following from Section 21:
21-3 (2)
(d)
There shall be no more than one (1) off-premises outdoor
advertising sign having more than .thirty-two (32) square
feet of surface area for each seven hundred and fifty (750)
feet of frontage on each side of any roadway except for
those roadways that are designated as part of the Interstate
Highway System shall be regulated pursuant to the spacing
standards adopted by the Georgia Department of
Transportation,
SECTION II. That the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance is amended by adding the
following to Section 21:
21-3 (2)
(d)
There shall be no more than one (1) off-premises outdoor
advertising sign having more than thirty-two (32) square
feet of surface area for each seve~ hundred and fifty (750)
feet of frontage on each side of any roadway. No off-
premises outdoor advertising signs shall be located on
roadways designated as part of the Interstate Highway
System within .500 feet of an interchange, intersection
grade, or safety rest area, The foregoing 500 foot zone
shall be measured along the interstate highway from the-
point at which the pavement commences or ceases to
widen at exits from or entrances to the main traveled way..

SECTION III. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
