Dear Wes:
We thank you for the opportunity to provide design services for this project. We also
thank you for your assistance; your help has been most beneficial to us in this preliminary
phase. KHAFRA is pleased to offer engineering services to AUD for the design of the
Olive Road Sewer project. An explanation of our proposed fee is included below and a
supporting cost estimate is attached to this letter for your reference.
After our visit to the site, we all seem to agree that the most cost effective alignment for
new 8" sewer service on Olive Road is in the center of the roadway from the intersection at
Barnes Road to the intersection at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. We have prepared a
construction cost estimate for this new line and total cost indicated is just over $328,000.
For KHAFRA to provide design services (plan and profile drawings certified by a
Professional Engineer registered in the state Georgia) we request a fee of $32,000. These
drawings will be prepared to standards required by the Augusta Utilities Department and I
assure you that every reasonable effort will be made to ensure the success of this project.
