HomeMy WebLinkAboutJones InterCable Augusta Richmond GA DOCUMENT NAME: ~e~ \ m-a CJJb\G DOCUMENT TYPE: YEAR: C119 BOX NUMBER: D d FILE NUMBER: \ ()~I ~ NUMBER OF PAGES: 5 Channel Lineup Changes The entertainment and information choices available to Jones Intercable customers are about to increase dramatically as we add six new services to the Jones Intercable channel line-up on February I, 1997: The History Channel, The Sci-Fi Channel, Animal Planet, Outdoor Life, Home and Garden Television (HGTV), and The Inspirational Network (INSP). These channels will become a part of our Basic Plus Service, and are some of the most highly requested services based on cllstomer responses to our surveys. In order to make room for these new channels, we plan to remove one channel that is currently carried, and to change the position of some others on the line-up. These changes are described below, and will be effective February 1, 1997: WBEK (67) is moving from channel 19 to channel 21, and will be sharing this channel with WIS (in South Carolina only). The Family Channel is mDving from channel 21 to channel 20, and the Product Information Network is moving from channel 20 to channel 19. Additionally, Sneak Prevue is moving from channel 27 to 99, and will be available to customers with an addressable converter on all addressable channels except when the customer has purchased programming on those channels. Sneak Prevue will be replaced on 27 by The History Channel. Animal Planet is replacing Odyssey, which will no longer be carried, on channel 44. The Inspirational Network (INSP) will begin sharing channel 45 with EWTN. Home and Garden Television is being added to channel 51, replacing Sneak Prevue. Jones Home Theater on channel 54 is moving to channel 98, and is being replaced on channel 54 by Outdoor Life. The Sci-Fi Channel is being added to channel 61. At this time, we will also change the numerical designations of our Jones Home Theater pay-per-view channels according to their position on the line-up. Customer Service Improvements Following are some of our customer service highlights form 1996, and some planned improvements for 1997: . We continue to offer our Customer Service Guarantee Program in which we guarantee on-time arrival for service calls and installations. . We offer two hour appointment windows for service calls. . We installed a new telephone system that further enhances the quality of customer service we provide, allowing us to implement a "one call does it all" concept. . We now have two additional payment options for our customers: automatic bank drafting and Mastercard and Visa. . We plan to further support our commitment to excellent service through ongoing training for our customer contact personnel. . We plan to begin using a new billing system in 1997, resulting in bills that are more customer friendly. . Eight additional payment locations will be available in early 1997. . Starting January 15, 1997, our customer service phone hours will be expanded to 8:00AM-1O:OOPM Mon.-Fri., 9:00AM -6:00PM Sat., and Noon-5:00PM Sun. OUf Lobby hours will be expanded to 8:00AM-6:00PM Mon.-Fri., and 9:00AM-I :OOPM Sat. We will continue to answer all service repair calls 24 hours a day. ~ .. Contributions to the Community . We provide complimentary cable service and subscriptions to "Cable in the Classroom" magazine to all schools in our service area. . We provided extensive local programming in 1996, including local election coverage, coverage of local high school football games. . In 1997, local programming plans include production of talk shows, coverage oflocal school board meetings, and continuation of our coverage of local government meetings. While there are many other providers of in home entertainment and information from which our customers can choose, Jones Intercable is the only one that puts money back into the communities we serve. I welcome your comments and appreciate your support. s;nce<el~., ~a_nn~n~ General Manager t P AGE ONE OF TWO FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DECEMBER 27,1996 Contact: Ben Blackmon General Manager (706) 739-1850 JONES INTERCABLE TO ADJUST RATES FOR LIMITED AND BASIC PLUS CABLE SERVICE, AND ADD SIX NEW PROGRAMMING NETWORKS AS OF FEBRUARY 1, 1997. Augusta, GA - Jones lntercable will adjust rates for basic services. The new rates will affect all customers of Jones lntercable in the CSRA. The current rate for 18 channels of Limited Basic is $9.95 a month and will be adjusted to $10.20 a month. The rate for Basic Plus service, which includes all Limited Basic channels and an additional 34 channels, will increase from $25.73 to $27.68. These rates are subject to a franchise fee which is not included in the rates above. These changes will not affect Premium Services, Pay Per View or Superaudio. "After considering all of our options, the rate adjustments were deemed necessary to recover increases in the cost of doing business, such as programming costs, improvements in customer service, and other external costs. This rate increase will enable us to stay responsive to the challenges of today and tomorrow while staying well within the FCC regulations. Beginning February 1, Basic Plus customers will receive, Sci-Fi Channel (Channel 61), The History Channel (Channel 27), Home & Garden Television (51), Outdoor Life (Channel 54), Animal Planet (Channel 44) and The Inspirational Network (Channel 45). These additions will raise the Basic Plus service to 52 Channels. "Each of these new networks is so unique that everyone is sure to find something they like, and it gives us great pleasure to add the programming most requested by our customers," said Ben Blackmon, General Manager of Jones Intercable. Jones Intercable is also making other changes in the channel line-up to allow for the additional networks. EWTN will share channel 45 with The Inspirational Network. EWTN can be viewed Sundays-Fridays 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. The Inspirational Network will be available Sundays - Fridays 5 p.m. - 7 a.m. and Saturdays after 8 p.m. Channel 44, Odyssey, will no longer be available due low viewership. More information on these and other changes will arrive in customers homes on December 31, 1996.
