CAPTION: Approve Information Technology Organization Chart
BACKGROUND: The current organization structure will not allow Information
Technology to meet the needs of the consolidated government.
ANALYSIS: This will provide Information Technology the structure it needs to meet the
requirements of the 1998 Budget. Information Technology is currently
implementing five software packages and needs to replace an Application
Developer with an Application Manager to complete this in a timely manner.
Also by replacing a Computer Operator with a System Administrator, more
time would be available to improve and maintain our Internet home page.
Information Technology is responsible for maintaining over 3,000 devices
(PC's, Printers, radios, telephones) now and needs to replace a Records
Clerk with a LAN Administrator. Also, this will eliminate clerical positions
and replace them with professionals.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This reorganization includes no increase in headcount, but position
reassignments resulting in an increase of the department salary total
of $24,574, which can come from 1998 unused salary disbursements.
