Individual Assistance Program Purpose: The purpose of the Governor's $105,000 grant is to provide assistance for the immediate needs of those people most affected by the severe flooding on June 20, 2000 in Augusta-Richmond County. The intent is to provide assistance to the people who need it the most. Eligibility Criteria: Eligible applicants are defined as a renter or homeowner whose primary residence was adversely affected by the emergency and who is considered Head of the household. Priority considerations will be given to vulnerable populations such as the elderly, disabled and families with children and/or individuals with the greatest demonstrated need. The greatest demonstrated need will be detennined based on the following factors in order: -Uninhabitable residences detennined by County Public Health/Building Inspectors: -Uninsured people/families displaced by flood waters in their living space. -Insured people/families displaced by flood waters in their living space. -Damaged habitable residences -Amount of estimated repair and replacement cost to restore to pre-disaster condition or replace.(structural damage and personal property) -Per cent (%) of dollar loss not covered by insurance The maximum grant award per eligible participant may be up to $5,000 Grant assistance will be awarded for the following needs that resulted from the emergency situation for the serious and necessary expenses: · Temporary housing( hotel, motel, apartment, etc.) · Replacement or repair of essential personal property, such as food, clothing or furnishings destroyed by the flood. · Daily subsistence while living in temporary housing. · Emergency medical needs or expenses, such as replacement of prescription medication, eyeglasses, dentures or accessibility devices destroyed by the flood. · Emergency transportation expenses, including minor repairs to essential vehicles and additional mileage requirements. The $105,000 grant is all the state funds available for the severe flooding which occurred on June 20, 2000 in Richmond County.
