A RESOLUTION OF THE AUGUSTA - RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION
The Augusta - Richmond County Board of Commissioners expresses the concern of our
community in regard to the fact that the Georgia Lottery Corporation is considering a withdrawal
of this sponsorship and support from the Georgia - Carolina State Fair in Augusta.
The Georgia - Carolina State Fair is the longest running annual event in our community; 2005 is
the 82nd year. It is a major community event steeped in history and family tradition. It is not
only a financial contributor to the local economy, the fair's profits are most important to the
support of local charities in the area. The loss of this support would hinder their ability to assist
those in need of their services.
We respectfully request that you reconsider the withdrawal of your support for our fair and our
community.
NOW, THEREFORE THE AUGUSTA - RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION by and
through this Resolution evidences its support for the Georgia - Carolina Fair and requests the
Georgia Lottery Corporation to continue its support of said fair.
