HomeMy WebLinkAboutCLOSING OF STREETS EAST & WEST FORD STREET f STATE OF GEORGIA ) ) RICHMOND COUNTY ) THIS IS TO CERTIFY that the consolidated government of Augusta, Georgia, by and through the Augusta-Richmond County Commission, has approved the closing of East Ford Street, West Ford Street, and that portion of Walker Street which lies between 8th Street and 9th Street in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. All of these streets surround Barrett Plaza which is the focal point of the federal court campus which is faced by the new Bankruptcy Federal Annex, the existing United States Courthouse, and the Administrative Offices of the United States Post Office (downtown). Further, said streets having been closed for the purpose of accommodating the construction of the new Federal Annex along West Ford Street, the consolidated government of Augusta, Georgia, has agreed to, consented to, and concurred in the enclosure of the entire federal court campus area with appropriate wrought iron security fencing of a decorative nature. Further, the consolidated government of Augusta, Georgia, has agreed to, consented to, and concurred in such modifications and alterations of the sidewalks and street areas within the enclosure, and such alterations and modifications of Barrett Plaza as may be necessary and desirable to achieve the purposes of the United States Courts and the General Services Administration in the fulfillment of the federal court campus concept for the United States District Court, the United States Bankruptcy Court, and the United States Attorney's Office. It is understood and agreed that the aforementioned area of enclosure may be secured by the United States Marshals Services, the General Services Administration, and the United States Courts as their requirements and practices may dictate. The consolidated government of Augusta, Georgia, has entered into the aforementioned agreement and made the within certificate in order to advance the construction of the Federal Annex at Barrett Plaza and to enhance the overall security, quality, appearance, utility, and development of the enclosed area and the surrounding environment in downtown Augusta.
