MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF AUGUSTA, GEORGIA AND THE CITY OF AUGUST A WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Augusta, Georgia desires to provide a summer recreation program for youth, ages 6 to 12, residing in the Authority, AND WHEREAS, the City of Augusta possesses the expertise, facilities and equipment to provide such a summer recreation program to these youth, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Housing Authority of the City of Augusta, Georgia and the City of Augusta under the conditions hereinafter set forth shall execute the following memorandum of understanding. This Memorandum of Understanding, made and entered into as of the 1st day of April, 2002 by and between the Housing Authority of the City of Augusta, Georgia (hereinafter referred to as the Housing Authority) and the City of Augusta, a political subdivision of the State of Georgia. SECTION I - HOUSING AUTHORITY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. The Housing Authority shall be responsible for disbursement of funds to The City of Augusta. 2. The Housing Authority shall be responsible for assisting with outreach for participation. 3. The Housing Authority shall reimburse the City of Augusta for budgeted expenses as they are incurred. These will be paid on a timely basis. The total budgeted amount for the program will not exceed $40,000.00. 4. Term and Renewal. This agreement shall continue in force, specifically for the period from the date of execution hereof through August 2,2002. SECTION II - THE CITY OF AUGUST A RESPONSIBILITIES 1. The City of Augusta shall provide a Summer Recreation Program for Housing Authority youth. The program will run from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday, from June 3rd through August 2nd with no program activities during the week of the Fourth of July. The program will include sports, arts and crafts, guest speakers, games, field trips, instructional classes and other activities. 2. The City of Augusta agrees to accept into the program a minimum of 200 youth, ages 6 to 12, from various Augusta Housing Authority developments. 3. The City of Augusta shall be responsible for insuring these youth and any employees against harm while they are involved with the program~ 'Sunm1t~r Recreation Program MOD Page 2. . , . It . . 4. the City of Augusta shall bill the Housing Authority for amounts per the budget not to exceed $40,000.00. 5. The City of Augusta shall provide transportation for all participants. 6. The City of Augusta shall maintain a daily attendance roster of participants by name and location. 7. In hiring personnel for this program, the City of Augusta shall give preference to qualified residents of Public Housing. 8. The City of Augusta shall be responsible for submitting program progress reports to the Housing Authority in accordance with PHDEP and CDBG grant requirements. SECTION III The Housing Authority agrees to meetings between the Housing Authority's representative and the City of Augusta's representative to critique and review the program. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this memorandum of Understanding to be executed on the day and year first above written.
