You are requested to adjust your Cost Proposal for LN. #9 to reflect these adjustments. Please provide this cost information no later than October 6, 2005. Basically, the generator set will remain as originally designed and specified. The fire pump and jockey pump will remain as modified in the original issuance ofl.N. #9 and one additional feed for each run is to be provided from the generator set and the 480V transfprmer to the FP-I Controller. . In the interim, Parsons Brinckerhoffhas requested the Architect initiate his submittal review of the generator package previously received. PB asks that you provide the remaining submittal package at the October 3rd Progress Meeting so the Architect may add his comments to all of the copies. The Architect understands the critical nature of this expedited review. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please feel free to contact me at (706) 771- 5172. Roberson; PB/INT Over a Century of Engineering Excellence AUGUSTA REGIONAL AIRPORT TERMINAL AREA IMPROVEMENTS September 30, 2005 FIRE PUMP CONTROLLER MODIFICATIONS Contractor shall provide the following modifications to tbe fire pump controller to allow load shedding control. Firetrol Option -ED has a set of both normally open (112 & 113) and normally'closed (114 & 115) contacts that only change state if the pump is called to run and the transfer switch is in emergency. An example of how this would work is as follows: If the pump is called to run and the normal power is stable and functioning properly these contacts do not change state. If the pump is not called to run, but normal power is lost, the transfer switCh will start the generator and transfer to emergency, but these contacts do not change state. If the normal power is lost, the transfer switch will start the generator and transfer to emergency. While in emergency if the pump is called to run by either a manual pushbutton or pressure drop then the load shed circuit contacts will change state and also delay tbe pump from starting only long enough for the load t~ be shed. . If the pump is called to run on normal power and duringthe run time the power fails the pump will be stopped only long enough to start the generator, transfer to emergency, and close load shed circuit before it then resumes running. Contacts 112 & 113 (N/O) shall be wired to the shunt circuit for load shed to provide proper operation and sequence desired. -end- 05019-5-39-02 Page 1 =-. =.... -- --.-.- ~--- -.--..- .' ---riOO Yl!AR"';1":' October 4, 2005 McKnight Construction Co. 635 North West Frontage Road Augusta, GA 30907 Attention: Mr. Pat Patrick Re: Augusta Regional Airport - Tenninal Area Improvements !nfonllation Notice #9 Supplement Modifications Dear Pat: PlInlon. The documents as approved in the original submission indicated the use of UL # P519 to meet the 1-hour requirement for Type 1 B construction (a gypsum board assembly). The contractor, McKnight Construction, has requested a change to UL #P719, which is a spray fireproofing method. This was offered as a cost saving to the Owner and as well as improving the contractor's ability to complete on schedule. . Our understanding is that the Life Safety Plan would need to be updated to indicate the method used. That revision is attached. It also includes the notation of the actual tested spray . fireproofing assembly for the floor/ceiling assembly and columns submitted for approval. These changes are only due to the use a different manufacturer for the fireproofing material (Isolatek), and thus the test assembly number We would request your specific review and approval on this issue by no later than October 15th so that the work progress is not affected. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, Enclosures LSO.O Revised, UL Assemblies Data Lt.
