First, your letter insinuates the work in the drive area is on hold. In fact, underdrain work was . being performed on November 1 i". With regard to utilities, PB has reviewed the conflict with the GA Power lines and has coordinated with Mr. Jim Granade of GA Power. Direction is expected shortly in the form of an Information Notice. Briefly, the primary feed on the North is currently disconnected. The secondary must be relocated to a depth beneath the pavement section. Once this work is complete, the Southside primary power lines will be disabled by GA Power so work can proceed. The other conflict at the South is the BellSouth phone line and this should be at a depth that will be beneath the remedial section or at a depth that the remedial section can be run over top the utility. Again, this will be addressed in a forthcoming LN. The second item concerned the "transition elevation" between the new and existing grades. PB never agreed to provide a detail on the item, but I did indicate I would review and provide input. As I understand the issue, the concern is the transition of the crosswalk from the existing grades to the new grades in the roadway. The West side ofthe crosswalk may be installed more or less in accordance with the final design since the junction is to an area at the project limit. While the East side is considered to be a means and methods issue, the tie in to the existing area will need to meet ADA requirements for slope. My review with Lee Mooney on November 17th indicated this should be possible. This is simply not the case. PB reviewed the area and found the roadway width from the new curb to the existing canopy drip line is approximately 17' and approximately 18' to the brick column. The additional 8" water line will allow the existing water distribution system to be bypassed and should eliminate pressure problems in the existing facility. There will be costs associated with the extra work mentioned above. The attached sheet includes a detailed breakdown of estimated quantities and cost associated with the above mentioned work.
