Attached please find the change order request from the Contractor requesting additional
compensation for:
Description of Chanqes:
1. Remove hidden sub-slab with asbestos.
2. Abate and dispose of miscellaneous, unforeseen asbestos-containing materials.
Why is this chanoe necessary?
1. The sub-slab was not visible, evident or predictable. Removal is required prior to
completion of new library.
2. Several instances of undocumented, concealed asbestos were uncovered during
demolition work. Abatement and disposal of these materials have been executed, in
compliance with Georgia EPD regulations.
Who requested this chanoe?
The Project Manager
Is there an alternative to doino this work and what impact does it have?
There is no alternative to doing this work. The sub-slab is contaminated with asbestos-
containing materials, abatement is required. Miscellaneous and unforeseen asbestos-
containing materials have been abated and disposed of.
What will happen if this chanqe is not made?
The work will almost certainly have to be done in the future. Augusta-Richmond County
will be in violation of EPD regulations.
Impact to Project Schedule:
The change order provides an additional 12 days to complete the Work. Completion of the
demolition project will be delayed if the change order does not get approved by June 5,
2007. The Contractor has indicated that it reserves the right to submit a Change Order
request for delays, in the amount of approx. $1130 per day, if this Change Order is not
approved by June 5, 2007. The associated library project is not expected to be impacted.
