Armstrong, P.E., Retired March 5, 200 I Mr. N. Max Hicks, P. E., Director Augusta-Richmond Utilities Department 360 Bay St, Suite 180 Augusta, Ga. 30906 RE: Water Plant NO.3 and 4 Engineering Services Dear Mr. Hicks: The design work and construction engineering services have proceeded and Ground Water Plant 4 is nearly complete. However, there are a number of items which were beyond the scope of our work that we'd like for the Department to consider. These are: 1. The site selection of both plants have proceeded with many false starts and relocation because the site acquisition has been more difficult than anticipated. This condition caused additional work in Plant 3 by. The first site chosen was found unsuitable and we had to redo work for the second site. We request $5,500 to compensate us for the work done relative to the site selection. 2. The Site design was complete for Groundwater plant 4 when we were asked to redesign the road entrance to accommodate the needs of the Development Authority. The costs of the redesign is $1,971.43. 3. We were directed to continue to provide resident inspection for Contracts 1 and 2 at Groundwater plant 3 after the allocation authorized was reached. The total additional inspection provided is $5,390. The total for these items is $12,861.43. Our total fee for Basic Services for both plants is estimated to be 4.7% of the construction cost. We would appreciate the Department's concurrence to approve these additional services on the project. Sincerely ZIMMERMAN, EVANS AND LEOPOLD, Inc. L---/ 9905 Additional Services .doc
