MOTION TO APPROVE AMENDMENTS TO CONTRACTS FOR
NEW MAIN LIBRARY
CAPTION:
Motion to approve amendments to both the c::onstrudion contract and the .mltecfs
centrad, for the New Main Library.
BACKGROUND:
In May, 2008, the srchitec:t8' design drawings were approved by the library Board cI
Trustees for bidding, advertised by Procurement, and released for bids, In June,
following instructions from the Library Board, the archltect8 made revisions to the
exterior design of the library 10 address concerns ral8ed by a number of civic groups.
These changes were made by addendum, after the documente had been released for
bklding.
Bids were received on July 31'*8nd Included several Additive Alternates. The Base Bid
contrad amount of $16,287,000 W88 approved at the August 19, 2008 Commission
Meeting, The Library Boen:t wishes to amencl the conlract to include two of the BId
Alternates,

The architects' request for additional service fees is consistent with the intent of Article 7
of their Contract with Augusta. The Contract entitles them to additional service feel if
slgnificanl design changes are required by the Owner, subeequent to previous approvals
from the Owner.
Regarding the altemate bids, these items were competitively bid and the LIbrary Director
and Board of Trustees has requested that they be added to the construction contract.
FINANCIAL .MPACT:
The amount of additional architectural fees is $40,198,50.
The combined amount oflhe two additive altematee is $48,000.00,
ALTERNATIVES:
Do not approve the recommended contract amendments.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve recommended contract amendments.
