The purpose of this was to align the flow from this 72" RCP and that of the proposed adjoining concrete ditch paving with an existing double line of 72" RCP. Once the downstream portion of the 72" RCP and the connecting box was removed it was determined that the remaining 72" RCP was approximately 20-25 degrees out of the plan alignment. Three options were explored to accomplish what was proposed by this project. 1) Construct another connector box of cast-in-place concrete and reinforcing steel. 2) Construct the box with brick 3) Fabricate a joint of72" RCP with a 22 degree bend in it The third option was selected because it will cost approx. $4,000 less than the second option above and approx, $7,000 - $8,000 less than the fIrst option. The selected option also provides the most structurally sound and hydraulically desirable of the three solutions. This problem was discovered on Tuesday, 1-13-04 and pipe fabrication will take approx. 10 days. The east- in-place option would require approx. the same. The brick option is not acceptable due to the proposed alignment, volume and velocity and was not a viable option. Furnish and Install 72" R.C.Pipe,22 Deg.Bend, 1 EA. @ $3,233.00 2. Remov,e Existing 72" Pipe, 16 L.F. @$17.00 = $272.00 3. Furnish and Install Found Backfill,TP II 75C.Y. @ $23.10 = $1.732.50 4. Install 6' Chain Link Fence, 150 L.F. @ $11 .00 = $1,650.00 TOTAL AMOUNT FOR PROPOSED CHANGE ORDER = $6,887.50 We will need to add some days to this project since it will take up to two weeks for delivery of the R.C.Pipe Bend,and additional days for this change order to be processed we are requesting and additional 30 :..
