INDEMNIFICATION AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT
The undersigned agrees to indemnify and"hold harmless the Georgia Department of Transportation, the State of Georgia, its agencies
and instrumentalities and all of their respective officers, members, employees and directors (collectively referred to as the "DOT ")
from and against any and all claims, demands, liabilities, losses, costs or expenses, including attorneys' fees, and from the payment of
any sum or sums of money to any persons whomsoever (including third persons ;'or subcontractors, employees or agents of the
undersigned or of DOT), for any loss due to personal injury, bodily injury, death, or property damage arising out of, attributable to or
resulting from this special event or in any way attributable to the location, construction, operation or maintenance of the traffic control
plan approved for this request; or due to any violation of the approval by the requesting party; or due to the application or violation of
any pertinent Federal, State or local law, rule or regulation in connection with this special event or the approved traffic control plan. If •
and to the extent such damage or loss covered by this indemnification is paid by any State self - insured funds (the "Funds ") established
and maintained by the State of Georgia Department of Administrative Services Risk Management Division (DOAS) -•he undersigned
agrees to reimburse the Funds for such monies paid out by the Funds. The undersigned acknowledges that traffic control plans for
special events can be approved in situations where local streets are on or off the State Route System, and that the DOT makes no
warranty, express or implied, concerning the State Route System or local streets and roads or other engineering considerations
involved in approving this traffic control plan. The undersigned further acknowledges that the DOT has relied upon the
representations made by the undersigned in requesting, approval of the traffic control plan for this event, including the undersigned's
representations that all conditions of the plan shall be met and that the undersigned shall meet all DOT specifications, as well as all
relevant Federal, State and local laws, rules or regulations in the construction, maintenance, and operation of the approved traffic
control plan. This indemnification shall apply where the DOT may be partially responsible for the situation giving rise to the claim.

THE 3rd ANNUAL
The Augusta Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 24, 2010. Nearly 900 runners are expected to
compete in third annual event. The race, which starts at 7am, will start and finish at the Augusta Common. The
challenging route will pass by many area landmarks as the race leaves downtown, travels over to the hill area,
past Lake Olmstead, and down Calhoun Expressway on its way back into downtown for the finish.
You are receiving this notice because your home or business is on the route. For the safety of the runners,
portions of the route will be closed to traffic, re- directed, or slowed to allow runners to pass.
Traffic control will be managed by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Central Ave. — Right westbound lane of Central Ave. from Druid Park Ave. to Highland Ave. will be closed from 7:10 am to 8:15
am.
Highland Ave. — Northbound lane of Highland Ave. will be closed from 7:15 am to 8:30 am.
Walton Way — Right eastbound lane of Walton Way will be closed from Highland Ave. to Milledge Rd. from 7:35 to 9:00 am.
Milledge Rd. — Northbound lane of Milledge Rd. will be closed from Walton Way to Lake Shore Loop from 7:15 am to 9:00 am.
Lake Shore Loop /Lakemont — Traffic will be routed clockwise around the lake from 7:30 to 9:30 am.
Calhoun Expy. — Westbound traffic will be limited to one lane and 30 mph from Greene St. to Washington Rd. The on -ramps at
15 Street and Eve St. will be closed from 7:00 to 10:30 am
Greene St. — Westbound traffic will be limited to one lane from Calhoun Expy. To 6 St.
6 St. — Southbound lane of 6 St. will be closed from Greene St. to Broad St. from 8 am to 10:30am.
Broad St. — Westbound lane of Broad St. will be closed from 6 St. to 9 St. from 5:00 am to 10:30am.

Racers will u -turn at Calhoun and proceed in the ( ?) bound lane of the Expressway. (mile marker 10 past

Mile Marker 11 at end of Eve St. on -ramp
Must control access to traffic taking the Eve St. and 15 St. ramp. Cones will need to be placed
on route through the turn and down the expressway to Greene St. divider ( #200). Heavy motor cop
presence. Egress traffic will be allowed in far lane.
JC Calhoun Expressway becomes Greene St. (major intersection — heavy police presence)
Proceed on Greene St. (in lane normally going against traffic).

RE: Request to interrupt Traffic - Augusta Half Marathon Festival
Dear Mr, Collins:
The City of Augusta and the Greater Augusta Sports Council respectfully request your permission to
interrupt traffic on State Route 4 (13` Street - closed from 7 :00 AM - 7:25 AM Southbound Lane only) for
the Augusta Half Marathon Festival on Sunday, October 24, 2010. The City of Augusta will be responsible
for traffic control necessary for the event. Traffic will be directed by local law enforcement officials
during the event. Signs and barricades will be provided as needed.
Attached is the traffic control plan for the proposed detour and the DOT indemnification and Hold
Harmless Agreement for this event.
