WHEREAS, if it is deemed to be in the public interest to execute a Mutual Fireflghting Agreement wherein each of the fire departments assist the others in major Firefighting effort. THEREFORE. in consideration of the mutual benefit to be derived by both the Grovetown Department of Public Safety and the AU2Usta-Richmond Countv Fire Department is hereby agreed. 1. SERVICE: In the event oC a major rare, or under circumstances which indicate that a major f"we might develop within areas of either of the department's responsibility, mutual assistance in combating the fire or the threat wiD be rendered by the force not directly involved by the dispatching of fire equipment and personnel to the scene of the Grovetown Department of Public Safety or the Au!usta-Ridt~Qnd COllnty Fire DepartUlent as the case roay be. 2. REQUESTING ASSISTANCE: Assistance under this Agreement may be requested or authorized by the following officials: 1) For the Grovetown Department of Public Safety's Fire Chief or Assistant Chief or their chosen representative. 2) For the ,(\u2Usfft..Ricbroond County ~ire Department, the Chief or Assistant Chief or their chosen representative. 3. SCOPE OF AUTHORITY: The Chief of the Grovetown Department of Public Safety shall bear the authority for directing all activities within its protectioD area, while the Chief of the AU.2usta Richmond County Fire Departmen~ shall bear the authority for directing aU activities within its protection area. 4. COST AND REMUNERATION: No compensation will occur or become due COI' any service rendued undel' thiJ agreement. 5. " ..' i> If CU-CUlIL!Jtances change during the Fireflghting of a fire to the extent that is necessary to reaD penonnel and fire equipment from the scene to answer a caD elsewhere, that action is not to be coDsidered a breach of this Agreement. 6. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT: No liability is assumed by either party of damage to the equipment used by the other party. 7. DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY: Each party hereby waived all claims against the other party for compensation for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occuniog in consequence for performance of this Agreement, 8. TERMINATION: Either party of this agreement may terminate this agreement at any time by giving (30) days written notice to the other party, and no services will be rendered by either party after the effective date of termination.
