METROPOLITIAN PLANNING ORGNIZATION (MPO) TO APPLY TO THE GEORGIA METROPOLITIAN
PLANNING ORGANIZATION(GAMPO) FUNDS TO HIRE A CONSULTANT TO COMPLETE THE CENTRAL
MARTINEZ COORIDOR STUDY.
WHEREAS,the Augusta Regional Transportation Study(ARTS) has been designated by the
Governor of Georgia as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)for the jurisdiction including
Augusta-Richmond County,GA; Columbia County,GA; Edgefield County,SC and Aiken County,SC in
accordance with Federal requirements of Title 23,Section 134 of the United States Code to have a
Cooperative,Comprehensive and Continuous transportation planning process; and
WHEREAS,the MPO will conduct federally-required transportation planning activities that will
improve the transportation system and help coordinate the area's future growth within the above
jurisdiction;
WHEREAS, it is required by the United States Department of Transportation and the Georgia
Department of Transportation in accordance with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of
1964,that in connection with the filing of an application for assistance under the Federal Transit Act,the
applicant gives an assurance that it will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the
United States Department of Transportation requirements thereunder;and
WHEREAS, it is the goal of the Applicant that Minority Business Enterprise (Disadvantaged
Business Enterprise and Women's Business Enterprise) be utilized to the fullest extent possible in
connection with this project,and that definitive procedures shall be established and administered to
ensure that minority business shall have the maximum feasible opportunity to compete for contracts
and purchase orders when procuring construction contracts, supplies,equipment contracts, or
consultant and other services.
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Augusta Regional Transportation Study confirms
that local match$100,000 provided by Columbia County as well as$35,000 in kind,and requests
consideration to apply for$400,000 through Georgia Metropolitan Planning Organization for to
complete the Central Martinez Corridor Study:
