HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting June 14, 2016 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER June 14, 2016 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016, the Honorables Grady Smith, Mayor Pro Tem, and Mary Davis, Commissioner, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Sias, Frantom, M. Williams, Fennoy, D. Williams, Hasan, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. ABSENT: Hon. Guilfoyle, member of Augusta Richmond County Commission. I can call Ms. Jackson: Good morning, everyone. I understand we now have a quorum. this meeting to order and entertain a motion to appoint a temporary Chairperson for today’s meeting. Mr. Hasan: I nominate Commissioner Mary Davis. Mr. Frantom: Second. Ms. Davis: Thank you, Madam Administrator. Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: You’re going to need to vote on that motion as well. Mr. M. Williams and Mr. Smith out. Motion carries 7-0. Ms. Davis: Mr. MacKenzie. 1.LEGAL MEETING A.Pending and potential litigation B.Real estate C.Personnel Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to go into an executive session to discuss pending and potential litigation, real estate and personnel. Mr. Sias: So move. Mr. D. Williams: Second. Ms. Davis: Okay. We have a motion and a second. Please vote. Mr. Smith out. Motion carries 8-0. [EXECUTIVE SESSION] Mr. Smith: This commission meeting is now in session. Mr. Sias: We got to go to the attorney to come out of executive session. Mr. Smith: I’ll turn it over to Mr. MacKenzie. 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. Fennoy: So move. Mr. Frantom: Second. Mr. Smith: Call for the vote. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to approve a Resolution authorizing the settlement of a condemnation case for 2,037 square feet of right-of-way and 2,396.94 square feet of temporary driveway easement with Robert William Black in the amount, the aggregate total value of $69,000 which would result in an additional deposit in the registry of the Court, $34,400. Mr. Fennoy: So move. Mr. M. Williams: Second. Mr. Smith: We have a motion and a second. Call for the vote. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Smith: Okay. I just want to say I talked to Mr. Guilfoyle on the phone. He had some kind of bug so he was in bed when I talked to him not feeling very well so I think he’s on chicken noodle soup right now. But anyway, what else we got, Andrew? Mr. MacKenzie: That’s all I have. Thank you. Mr. Smith: Okay. All right. Right now before we get into anything else, I’d like everybody to stand and just for a moment of silence for what happened in Orlando, Florida and we pray nothing like that happens in any other communities.
