HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting April 26, 2016 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER April 26, 2016 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016, the Honorable Hardie Davis, Jr., Mayor, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Guilfoyle, Sias, Frantom, M. Williams, Smith, Fennoy, D. Williams, Hasan and Davis, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. ABSENT: Hon. Lockett, member of Augusta Richmond County Commission. Mr. Mayor: All right, we’ll call this meeting to order. The Chair recognizes Attorney MacKenzie. 1.LEGAL MEETING A.Pending and potential litigation B.Real estate C.Personnel Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to go into an executive session to discuss pending and potential litigation, real estate and personnel. Mr. Hasan: So move. Mr. Fennoy: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second to enter an executive session. All those in favor vote Yea and all those opposed vote No. Voting. Ms. Davis, Mr. Sias and Mr. Smith out. Motion carries 6-0. [EXECUTIVE SESSION] 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. Sias: So move. Mr. Smith: Second. thrd Mr. Mayor: Commissioner from the 6, commissioner from the 3, commissioner from nd the 2, waiting on ya’ll to press your button. 1 Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Attorney MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute a resolution authorizing additional funds in the settlement of all claims by firefighters in the matter of Robert D. Morris, et al vs. Augusta Richmond County so that the aggregate amount including previously approved settlement funds is $90,113. Mr. Fennoy: So move. Mr. Sias: Second. Mr. Mayor: Properly motioned and second. All those in favor vote Yea and all those opposed vote No. Motion carries 9-0. th Mr. Mayor: The Chair recognizes the commissioner from the 7 for a motion. Mr. Frantom: Thank you, Mr. Mayor. I’d like to make a motion to authorize the Housing & Development Department to renew agreements with Tammy Phillips and Brenda Hawes as relocation specialists on a temporary basis not to exceed six months. Williams: Yes, sir, Mr. Mayor: I’d like to make a motion that we, a motion to extend the appointment for the Deputy Director of 911 for up to six months in accordance with Section 500-118 of the Personnel Policy and Procedure Manual.
