HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting January 26, 2016 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER January 26, 2016 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2016, the Honorable Grady Smith, Mayor Pro Tem, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Sias, Frantom, M. Williams, Fennoy, D. Williams, Hasan and Davis, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. ABSENT: Hon. Hardie Davis, Jr., Mayor. Ms. Jackson: Good morning, everybody. I understand that in the absence of the Mayor, I understand that it’s my he will not be here today, and the Mayor Pro Tem is not here yet. duty to call the meeting to order and ask that you all select a chairperson from among yourselves. Mr. Hasan: I nominate Commissioner Williams. Mr. Fennoy: You’ve got two Commissioner Williams. Mr. Hasan: Marion Williams. Mr. Sias: Second. But you didn’t have permission either. Mr. Hasan: That’s my forte. I don’t ever have permission. Mr. Sias: We’ve got a motion and a second, Madam Administrator. Ms. Jackson: Yes. Would you all please vote to indicate your approval of that motion? Ms. Davis, Mr. Lockett and Mr. Smith out. Motion carries 7-0. Mr. M. Williams: Mr. Brown. 1.LEGAL MEETING A.Pending and potential litigation B.Real estate C.Personnel Mr. Brown: Good morning, Commission. We’d like to request a motion to go into legal for real estate, pending and potential litigation, and personnel. Mr. Fennoy: So move. Mr. Frantom: Second. 1 Mr. M. Williams: We’ve got a motion properly seconded. Let it be known by the normal sign of voting. Ms. Davis, Mr. Lockett and Mr. Smith out. Motion carries 7-0. [LEGAL MEETING] Mr. Smith: I hope everyone is prepared. Check your weapons at the door. Whatever we can do we’re going to get done. Any comments from that area? Turn off my phone. Anybody got any phones off. I just shut mine off so everybody’s got to do it. $5 fine if you’re caught with your phone on. Mr. Lockett: That puts you into bankruptcy, Grady. Mr. Smith: Who told you? 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. Brown: Mr. Chair, we would request a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. M. Williams: So move. Mr. Fennoy: Second. Motion carries 10-0. The Clerk: Mr. Mayor Pro Tem, the attorney has one item to add. Mr. Brown: We request a motion to adopt a Resolution authorizing settlement of all claims by Clarissa Grace and Malik Grace, Mae Dell Blythers and Harry Blythers in the amount of $166,000. Mr. M. Williams: So move. Mr. Fennoy: Second. Mr. Smith: Okay, we have a motion and second. Call for the vote. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. Smith: All right. Anything else? 2 Mr. Brown: No further matters.
