HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting June 9, 2015 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER June 9, 2015 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, June 9, 2015, the Honorable Grady Smith, Mayor Pro Tem, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Sias, Frantom, M. Williams, Fennoy, D. Williams, Hasan and Davis, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. ABSENT: Hon. Hardie Davis, Jr., Mayor. The meeting was called to order. 1.LEGAL MEETING A.Pending and potential litigation B.Real estate C.Personnel Ms. Davis: I so move. Mr. Sias: Second. Mr. Smith: Okay, so we now go into legal, right? Mr. Hasan: Yeah, you have to get your votes. Mr. Smith: Oh, vote, yeah, let’s go ahead and vote. I figured everybody would be for that. Mr. Fennoy, Mr. Lockett and Mr. M. Williams out. Motion carries 7-0. [LEGAL MEETING] Mr. Smith: All right, the meeting will come to order and the order of business will be, do we need to go – 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. M. Williams: So move. Ms. Davis: Second. 1 Mr. Smith: Okay, we have a motion and a second. Call for the vote. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. MacKenzie: We have several other motions we’d like to entertain as well. Wayne. Mr. Brown: We request approval of a motion to authorize the Administrator to approve and the Mayor to execute at the discretion and under the direction of Augusta Law Department Augusta’s right-of-way parcels closing whose values do not exceed the appraised value of the parcel or whose fair market value does not exceed $50,000 on roadway and drainage improvement projects as well as a motion to approve and exercise the option for right-of-way between Chadwick E. Heard and Brandy N. Heard and Augusta, Georgia for the purchase of property located at 1569 Martin Luther King Blvd. at the appraised value to $37,000 and to approve the replacement of housing payment pursuant to guidelines in the amount of $27,900. Mr. Lockett: Move to approve. Mr. Fennoy: Second. Mr. Smith: Okay, we have a motion and a second. Call for the vote. Mr. M. Williams abstains. Motion carries 9-1. Mr. Brown: Thank you. Mr. Smith: Thank you. Mr. MacKenzie: The next item we have is a motion to approve a Resolution authorizing the settlement of all claims by Gary Hewett d/b/a Advanced Lawn Maintenance authorizing the Mayor and Administrator to disburse the amount of $10,350 to resolve an assignment of this claim. Mr. Guilfoyle: So move. Mr. D. Williams: Second. Mr. Smith: We have a motion, we have a second. Call for the vote. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. MacKenzie: The next item would be a motion to approve Lori Hembree as the General Manager for the Transit Department. Mr. Lockett: Move to approve. 2 Mr. Fennoy: Second. Mr. Smith: We have a motion, we have a second. Call for the vote. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. MacKenzie: And the last item would be an extension of the contract with Carmen Alexander to provide EEO services and to authorize a transfer of $50,000 from the EEO salary line item to fund this contract. Mr. Sias: So move. Mr. D. Williams: Second. Mr. Smith: We have a motion and second. Call for the vote. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. MacKenzie: That’s all I have.
