HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting January 27, 2014 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER January 27, 2014 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 12:00 Noon, Monday, January 27, 2014, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, D. Smith, Williams, Fennoy, Davis and G. Smith, members of the Augusta Richmond County Commission. ABSENT: Hons. Mason, Jackson, and Johnson, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. Mr. Mayor: Now that we have a quorum I’ll go ahead and call the special called meeting to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 1.LEGAL MEETING A.Pending and potential litigation B.Real estate C.Personnel Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to go into a legal meeting to discuss pending and potential litigation, real estate and personnel. Mr. Guilfoyle: So move. Mr. Fennoy: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been made and properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Mr. Williams out. Motion carries 6-0. [LEGAL MEETING] Mr. Mayor: Okay, I’ll go ahead and call the meeting back to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. MacKenzie: I’ll entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. Guilfoyle: So move. Mr. Fennoy: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been made and properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 7-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: I have a resolution to authorize the settlement of all claims related to real property of the Daniel Taveras and Rosa Lourdes Silva Partnership located at 1610 Wylds Road as a result of a sewer backup in the amount of $12,687.89, authorizing the Interim Administrator to disburse this amount. Mr. Mayor: Can I get a motion to that effect? Mr. Lockett: So move. Mr. D. Smith: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion which was made and properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 7-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: For the record on that one as well as the next three, these will all come out with the source of funding being the Utilities Department Enterprise Fund. The next one is a resolution authorizing the settlement of all claims related to real property of Jerry Moore located at 1601 Wylds Road in the amount of $21,406.61, authorizing the Administrator to disburse this amount. Mr. Mayor: Can I get a motion to that effect? Mr. Lockett: So move. Mr. Fennoy: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been made and properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 7-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: Next is a resolution to authorize the settlement of all claims related to personal property of Christopher Grissett and Leterri Grissett located at 1610 Wylds Road, Augusta, Georgia in the amount of $9,524.87 and authorizing the Administrator to disburse this amount. Mr. Mayor: Can we get a motion to that effect? Mr. Lockett: So move. Mr. Mayor: Do we have a second? Mr. Fennoy: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been made and properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 7-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: The final one is a resolution authorizing the settlement of all claims related to the real property of Martha Jean Temple located at 1614 Wylds Road, Augusta, Georgia in the aggregate amount of $32, 976.31 and authorizing the Interim Administrator to disburse this amount. Mr. Lockett: Move to approve. Mr. D. Smith: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been made and properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 7-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: That’s all I have. Thank you. Mr. Mayor: We have one additional agenda item. It is a motion to alter the SPLOST timeline approved by the Commission on January 7, 2014 as a result of legislative action of the Georgia General Assembly and to authorize the Mayor to issue notice of a meeting of the governing authorities of Augusta, Georgia, Hephzibah and Blythe to take place on February 7, 2014. Mr. Lockett: So move to approve. Mr. Guilfoyle: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been made and properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Mr. Williams votes No. Motion carries 6-1. Mr. Mayor: With no further business to come before the body, we stand adjourned. [MEETING ADJOURNED] Nancy W.
