Prince Meeting was called to order at 5:35pm, with three members absent at that time. They did, however, arrive. Emergency Preparedness This topic of discussion was moved to a later date. There will be a th training class on Thursday, February 13, 8am – 5pm at the Boathouse. th Then we will discuss it further at our March 19 meeting. There is a drill th scheduled for Wednesday, April 30. More information will be announced. Family Fun Day The event was a great success, and though we would like to have them twice per year, dates were difficult to pin down. We did agree on September th 6 for the next one, and will start planning soon. Licensing The topic of licensing will be one of the main focuses of our next th meeting, January 29. Before that time, each member and staff member are requested to research information for us to work together to customize a licensing program that will include mandatory spay/neuter. Customizing an ordinance will give us the ability to work with the various parts of the community that had objections the last time the subject of licensing was brought up in the community. It was discussed that it is certainly a better idea to get the proposed ordinance package, currently being worked on by the law department, passed before we present the topic of licensing for approval. This will give us time to work on it and customize it to our community. Status of the Commission It is nearly time for the election of new commissioners and we are hoping that we will continue to have good support from any new people elected to those positions. Meeting dates for 2014 January 29 March 19 May 21 July 23 August 27 Family Fun Day September 17 November 19 Announcement was made about Santa Paws Photo Shoot, November 8, 2014 Nominations for Board Officers Secretary Lorna Barrett Vice Chair Linda Finnegan Chairman BB Langham These officers were voted in unanimously, with a roll call vote. One member, Debbie Prince was absent during the voting process. Advertising and Promoting AAS, discounted adoption fees, services, etc. Cost of water bill inserts-printing them, with Streeter Printers, remains at a discounted rate of $250, while the cost of stuffing them into envelopes has increased from $630 to $945. This extreme increase is of great concern, as Ms. Broady stated she only has $500 in the budget to use for this purpose. Ms. Broady said that she would check to see if she could increase to $600 the amount she could contribute. Cost of Knight’s Billboard, a digital display, with three different images on one sign near Pepperidge on Hwy 25 going towards town, is $400 for production and $250 per month with a two month minimum contract. Both projects are beyond the budget of AAS, and will require additional funding. Ms. Colvin said she would contribute $300 and Ms. Barrett said she would contribute $250, as she did last year. The discussion continued to ask which product would reach more people, which would get our messages out better. The water bill insert would reach more people, though some members stated they did not see one in their water bill last year and wondered if it did any good. Ms. Barrett stated that a friend/contact had volunteered to give us free exposure on two digital billboards, thru the end of the year. The creative content is in the works and will be up for approval in the coming week, before Thanksgiving. We voted to do the inserts into the water bills, and will get to work on the insert right away. Ms. Weaver, Ms. Murphy and Ms. Barrett will work on the content. Topics for the January Meeting will include: Licensing and mandatory spay/neuter Legislative appointments approval from Barbara Sims A volunteer named Nicci Goudelock would like to join our board The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 pm Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to All!
