HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting November 12, 2013 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER November 12, 2013 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, November 12, 2013, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Mason, Williams, Fennoy, Johnson, Jackson, Davis, G. Smith, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. ABSENT: Hon. D. Smith, member of Augusta Richmond County Commission. Mr. Mayor: Seeing as we have a quorum, I’ll go ahead and call the meeting to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 1.LEGAL MEETING A.Pending and potential litigation B.Real estate C.Personnel Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to go into a closed meeting to discuss real estate and pending and potential litigation. Mr. Mayor: Can I get a motion to that effect? Mr. Fennoy: So move. Mr. Lockett: Second. Mr. Williams: Is it just those two things or is personnel going to be in there? Mr. MacKenzie: And personnel as well. Mr. Williams: Okay. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Mr. Johnson, Mr. Jackson and Mr. Guilfoyle out. Motion carries 6-0. Mr. Mayor: We are in legal. [LEGAL MEETING] Mr. Mayor: We do have a quorum so in the interest of time, I’m going to go ahead and call the meeting back to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 1 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. Williams: So move. Mr. Johnson: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to enter into the First Amendment to the 2008 commercial lease agreement with The Porter Company for property located at 985 Broad Street for use by the Juvenile Court. Mr. Lockett: So move. Mr. Mason: Second. Mr. Mayor: We’ve got a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to enter into a lease agreement with the East Augusta Brotherhood Association for the property located at 747 Sand Bar Ferry Road, formerly known as “Fire Station No. 19”. Mr. Williams: So move. Mr. Fennoy: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie, do we have any further business? 2 Mr. MacKenzie: That’s all I have. Mr. Mayor: With no further business, we stand adjourned. [MEETING ADJOURNED] Nancy W.
