Background:The City of Augusta has a longstanding goal of transparency—ensuring that government information and services are readily accessible to the public. The Information Technology Department supports these efforts with technology solutions for citizen engagement. This commitment is expressed through the Open Government strategic initiative included in the Information Technology Strategic Plan. At the same time, citizens increasingly expect to be able to interact with their government directly from their mobile devices. Secure, convenient mobile services are necessary for Augusta to provide excellent customer service to the public. Analysis:The City of Augusta purchased SeeClickFix, a mobile application for citizen engagement. The proposed name for Augusta’s SeeClickFix application is “MyAugusta.” MyAugusta will provide a single, easy-to-use channel for citizens to find information, report non-emergency issues, track requests, and access Augusta’s digital services. This tool will replace Augusta 311’s current mobile application. The successful implementation of MyAugusta will require collaboration among many City departments, as well as integration with Augusta’s enterprise asset management system, Cityworks. When complete, the City will promote the roll-out of MyAugusta with a public awareness campaign. This campaign will include presentations at neighborhood associations, promotion on the City’s website and social media, and other advertisement. Financial Impact:The purchase of the SeeClickFix application was funded through the SPLOST VI Software Consolidation project. Ongoing maintenance will be funded through the Information Technology operating budget. Alternatives:N/A Recommendation:Receive as information an update on Augusta's Transparency initiative.
