CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER
May 7, 2013
Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013,
the Honorable Corey Johnson, Mayor Pro Tem, presiding.
PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Mason, D. Smith, Williams, Fennoy, Jackson,
Davis and G. Smith, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission.
ABSENT: Hon. Deke Copenhaver, Mayor.
Mr. Johnson: We have a quorum here so we’ll go ahead and I think, Andrew, we have a
need for a legal meeting.
1.LEGAL MEETING
A.Pending and potential litigation
B.Real estate
C.Personnel
Mr. MacKenzie: Yes, sir. I’d entertain a motion to go into a closed meeting to
discuss pending and potential litigation, real estate and personnel.
Mr. Fennoy: So move.
Mr. Lockett: Second.
Mr. Johnson: All right, it’s been properly motioned and seconded. Any further
discussion? You can now vote by the usual sign of voting.
Mr. Mason, Mr. Williams and Mr. Jackson out.
Motion carries 7-0.
Mr. Johnson: We are now in legal.

Mr. Johnson: Let’s go ahead and get the ball rolling. Mr. Attorney.
2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with
Georgia’s Open Meetings Act.
Mr. MacKenzie: Sure. I’d entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting
affidavit.
Mr. Lockett: So move.
Mr. Fennoy: Second.
Mr. Johnson: All right. It’s been properly motioned and seconded. Any discussion?
Hearing none, please vote by the usual sign of voting. We’re waiting on two more votes.
Motion carries 10-0.
It’s an add and approve item to purchase the
Mr. MacKenzie: I have one other item.
Talking Books Building on Greene Street next to the old Library from the State of Georgia
for $150,000 plus $3,000 towards an appraisal fee and to authorize the Mayor and
Administrator to execute closing for that building.
Mr. Lockett: So move.
Mr. D. Smith: Second.
Mr. Johnson: All right. It’s been property motioned and seconded. Any further
discussion? Hearing none, vote by the usual sign of voting.
Motion carries 10-0.
Mr. Johnson: That’s it, Mr. Attorney?
Mr. MacKenzie: That’s all I have, sir, thank you.
Mr. Johnson: Before we adjourn legal, I’d just like to give kudos to our very own Ms.
Mary Davis for celebrating National Library Week at the Library. I think this was a couple of
weeks ago? As you can see her picture there posted on the screen, that’s why we’re celebrating
it so kudos to you and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read to our young
people. All right, if there’s no further business, legal stands adjourned.
