HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting March 19, 2013 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER March 19, 2013 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Mason, D. Smith, Williams, Fennoy, Johnson, Davis, G. Smith, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. ABSENT: Hon. Jackson, member of Augusta Richmond County Commission. Mr. Mayor: We have established a quorum. I’m going to go ahead and call the legal meeting to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 1.LEGAL MEETING A. Pending and potential litigation B. Real estate C. Personnel Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to go into a closed meeting to discuss pending and potential litigation, real estate and personnel. Mr. Mayor: Can we get a motion to that effect? Mr. Guilfoyle: So move. Mr. Johnson: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Mr. Mason and Mr. Williams out. Motion carries 7-0. Mr. Mayor: We are in legal. [LEGAL MEETING] The Mayor called the meeting back to order. 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. Lockett: So move. 1 Mr. Williams: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. I would entertain a motion to add and approve a Resolution Mr. MacKenzie: Sure. authorizing the settlement of all claims by Willis Walker and Josey B. Walker in the aggregate amount of $30,123.88 and authorizing the Administrator to distribute this amount. Mr. Lockett: Move to approve. Mr. Johnson: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to add and approve a Resolution to authorize Augusta, Georgia as the owner of real property located at the west side of Windsor Spring Road at Diamond Lakes in Hephzibah and another parcel located at 4185 Windsor Spring Road, Hephzibah, Georgia to the Department of Transportation in connection with the Windsor Spring Road Phase IV Road Improvement Project STP00- 7007-00 (006). Mr. Mason: Move to approve. Mr. Johnson: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will not vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: The last one would be a Resolution authorizing a local supplement to the salary of the elected office of the Augusta Richmond County Tax Commissioner in the amount of $25,941.18. 2 Mr. Lockett: Move to approve. Mr. Mason: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Ms. Davis, Mr. D. Smith and Mr. G. Smith vote No. Motion carries 6-3. Mr. Mayor: Is that all, Mr. MacKenzie? Mr. MacKenzie: Yes, sir. Mr. Mayor: With no further business to come before the body, the legal meeting stands adjourned. [MEETING ADJOURNED] Nancy W.
