HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting February 19, 2013 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER February 19, 2013 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2013, the Honorable Corey Johnson, Mayor Pro Tem, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Mason, G. Smith, Williams, Fennoy, Jackson, Davis and D. Smith, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. Mr. Johnson: Okay. I’d like to call the meeting to order. Mr. Attorney, do we have a need for a legal meeting? 1.LEGAL MEETING A. Pending and potential litigation B. Real estate C. Personnel Mr. MacKenzie: Yes, I would entertain a motion to go into a closed meeting to discuss real estate, pending and potential litigation and personnel. Mr. Mason: So move. Ms. Davis: Second. Mr. Johnson: All right. I have a motion and second. Any further discussion? Hearing none, vote by the usual sign of voting. Mr. G. Smith out. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Johnson: All right. We’re in legal. [LEGAL MEETING] Mr. Johnson: I’ll call the meeting back to order and take a short recess while we wait on one of our commissioners to join us here. [MEETING RECESSES] Mr. Johnson: I’d like to call the meeting back to order. Okay, Mr. Attorney. 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. 1 Mr. Williams: So move. Mr. Mason: Second. Mr. Johnson: Properly motioned and seconded. Any further discussion? Hearing none, vote by the usual sign of voting. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. Johnson: Okay, Mr. Attorney. Mr. MacKenzie: I have one additional motion as well that Wayne Brown will read. Mr. Brown: Commissioners, we would like to move, we request that the Commission move to award Trotter General LLC its bid of $148,180 for acquisition of 1.53 acres of 1710 Highland Avenue and authorize the Augusta Law Department to prepare a Purchase Agreement and closing documents to be executed by the Mayor and Clerk of Commission. Mr. Lockett: So move. Mr. Mason: Second. Mr. Johnson: That’s been properly motioned and seconded. Any further discussion? Hearing none, vote by the usual sign of voting. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. Johnson: Okay and – we’ve got one other action to be taken today. Commissioner Mason. Mr. Mason: Thank you, Mr. Mayor Pro Tem. Yes, I’d like to make a motion to provide Mobility Transit with a 90-day notice of intent to terminate the existing contract with Augusta, Georgia. Mr. Lockett: Second. Mr. Johnson: All right. It’s been properly motioned and seconded. Any further discussion? Hearing none, vote by the usual sign of voting. Mr. Guilfoyle votes No. Motion carries 9-1. Mr. Johnson: All right, Mr. Attorney, that’s it? Mr. MacKenzie: That’s all I have for the legal meeting. 2 Mr. Johnson: All right, with no further business, the legal stands adjourned. Nancy W.
