HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting December 18, 2012 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER December 18, 2012 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2012, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Mason, Hatney, Aitken, Johnson, Jackson, Bowles and Brigham, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. ABSENT: Hon. Smith, member of Augusta Richmond County Commission. Mr. Mayor: In the interest of time and due to the fact that we do have a quorum, I’ll go ahead and call the legal meeting to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 1.LEGAL MEETING A.Pending and potential litigation B.Real estate C.Personnel Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to go into a closed legal meeting to discuss pending and potential litigation and real estate. Mr. Johnson: So move. Mr. Bowles: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. If there’s no further discussion, commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting. Mr. Mason and Mr. Guilfoyle out. Motion carries 7-0. Mr. Mayor: We are in legal. [LEGAL MEETING] Mr. Mayor: Due to the fact that we have a quorum, Rev. Hatney is out celebrating someplace since this is his last meeting, I’ll go ahead and call the meeting back to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. Lockett: So move. Mr. Johnson: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting. Mr. Hatney out. Motion carries 8-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to add and approve accepting an offer of settlement for the property known as 302 Prep Phillips Drive in the case City of Augusta, actually Augusta-Richmond County vs. Burris Chemical and to accept $250,000 to resolve environmental contamination of that property. Mr. Lockett: So move. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion. Is there a second? Mr. Aitken: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: I’d entertain a motion to add and approve Amendment 2 to the 401A Defined Contribution Plan to reflect changes in the federal law known as the Worker Retiree and Employment Recovery Act of 2008. Mr. Brigham: So move. Mr. Lockett: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion that’s been properly seconded. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie, anything else? Mr. MacKenzie: That’s all I have, sir, thank you. Mr. Mayor: Okay. With no business, further business to come before the body, we stand adjourned.
