HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting October 16, 2012 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER October 16, 2012 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 4:15 P.M., Tuesday, October 16, 2012, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Mason, Smith, Hatney, Aitken, Johnson, Jackson, Bowles and Brigham, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. Mr. Mayor: I will go ahead and call the legal meeting to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 1.LEGAL MEETING A.Pending and potential litigation B.Real estate C.Personnel Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to go into a closed legal meeting to discuss pending and potential litigation, real estate and personnel. Mr. Mayor: Can I get a motion to that effect? Mr. Guilfoyle: So move. Mr. Mason: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting. Mr. Mayor: Need a few more votes. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. Mayor: We are in legal. [LEGAL MEETING] Mr. Mayor: I’ll call the meeting back to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 2.Motion to approve execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. Mayor: Do we have a motion? Mr. Lockett: So move. Mr. Johnson: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting. Mr. Jackson out. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to add and approve a resolution authorizing the settlement of all claims by Frank Byrd and Byrd Electric and Plumbing in the aggregate amount of $25,000 and authorizing the Administrator to disburse the funds in this amount. Mr. Aitken: So move. Mr. Smith: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting. Mr. Jackson out. Motion carries 9-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie, that’s it, I believe? Mr. MacKenzie: That’s it for me. Mr. Mayor: With nothing further to come before the body, I adjourn the legal session. [MEETING ADJOURNED] Lena J.
