CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER
October 24, 2011
Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 12:00 Noon, Monday, October 24,
2011, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding.
PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Mason, Smith, Hatney, Aitken, Johnson, Jackson,
Bowles and Brigham, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission.
Mr. Mayor: Okay, gentlemen, in the interest of everybody’s time, I’ll go ahead and call
the legal meeting to order. Mr. Attorney.
1.LEGAL MEETING
A. Pending and potential litigation
B. Real estate
C. Personnel
Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to go into a closed legal meeting to
discuss pending and potential litigation and personnel.
Mr. Hatney: So move.
Mr. Aitken: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. Commissioners will now vote by the usual
sign of voting.
Mr. Johnson, Mr. Mason and Mr. Jackson out.
Motion carries 7-0.
Mr. Mayor: We are in legal.
[LEGAL MEETING]
Mr. Mayor: We’ll call the meeting back to order and if we could have a moment of
silence for the deputy who lost his life yesterday.
[Moment of Silence]
Mr. Mayor: Thank you and I would ask that we continue to keep his family and friends
and all those mourning his passing lifted up in prayer. Mr. MacKenzie.
2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with
Georgia’s Open Meeting Act.
Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit.
Mr. Mayor: Can we get a motion to that effect?
Mr. Hatney: So move.
Mr. Johnson: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. Commissioners will now vote by the usual
sign.
Motion carries 10-0.
Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie.
Mr. MacKenzie: The next item would be a motion to add and approve a resolution
authorizing the settlement of all claims related to the damage of personal property owned
by Derek M. Snead in the aggregate amount of $1,000 and authorizing the Administrator
to disburse this amount.
Mr. Lockett: So move.
Mr. Hatney: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. If there’s no further discussion,
Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting.
Motion carries 10-0.
Mr. Mayor: If there’s no further business to come before the body, we stand adjourned.
