CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER
September 12, 2011
Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 12:00 o’clock Noon, Monday,
September 12, 2011, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding.
PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Mason, Smith, Hatney, Aitken, Johnson, Jackson,
Bowles and Brigham, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission.
Mr. Mayor: Is everybody ready? Okay, if everybody’s ready, I’ll go ahead and call the
legal meeting to order. Mr. MacKenzie:
1.LEGAL MEETING
A.Pending and potential litigation
B.Real estate
C.Personnel
Mr. MacKenzie: We have a need to go into legal to discuss pending and potential
litigation.
Mr. Mayor: Can I get a motion to that effect?
Mr. Smith: Motion made.
Mr. Hatney: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. If there’s no further discussion,
commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting.
Mr. Aitken out.
Motion carries 9-0.
Mr. Mayor: We are in legal.

Mayor Copenhaver called the meeting back to order.
2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with
Georgia’s Open Meeting Act.
Mr. Bowles: So move.
Mr. Jackson: Second.
Mr. Mayor: If there’s no further discussion, commissioners will now vote by the usual
sign of voting.
Mr. Smith out.
Motion carries 8-0.
Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie.
Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to add and approve a resolution
authorizing the settlement of all claims related to the real property of Patricia Pace located
at 3416 Applejack Terrace, Augusta, Georgia, in the aggregate amount of $65,000 and
authorizing the Administrator to disburse this amount to settle the case.
Mr. Mayor: Can I get a motion to that effect?
Mr. Bowles: So move.
Mr. Johnson: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and second. If there’s no further discussion,
commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting.
Motion carries 10-0.
Mr. Mayor: Mr. Attorney, is that all that you have?
Mr. MacKenzie: That’s all I have, thank you.
Mr. Mayor: And, gentlemen, as many of you may know, we lost Linda Beazley this
morning and we have brought forward a Resolution of Condolences that I’d like to get a
motion to add and approve if possible.
Mr. Smith: Motion made.
Mr. Hatney: Second.
Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. If there’s no further discussion,
commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting.
Motion carries 10-0.
Mr. Mayor: Thank you, gentlemen. If there’s no further business to come before the
body, we stand adjourned.
