Home My WebLink AboutORD 7262 AMEND CITY CODE SECTION 7-3-21 7-3-25 RELATING TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS ORDINANCE NO. � 2 h 2 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE AUGUSTA, GA CODE TITLE SEVEN CHAPTER THREE ARTICLE TWO SECTIONS 7-3-21 THROUGH 7-3-25 RELATING TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS; TO REPEAL ALL CODE SECTIONS AND ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, on March 30, 2011, the Augusta, Georgia Commission approved the Administrator's reorganization plan as described in the Augusta, Georgia Proposed Government Reorganization Draft Project Plan; and WHEREAS, such Proposed Government Reorganization Draft Project Plan requires the abolishment of the Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, Augusta, Georgia desires to update and amend the Code as related to the abolishment of the Public Work�s Department to be consistent with the Proposed Government Reorganization Draft Project Plan; and WHEREAS, 1997 Ga. Laws p. 4024 designates the name of the consolidated government as "Augusta, Georgia"; and WHEREAS, Augusta, Georgia seeks to update the local laws to reflect the name of the consolidated government. THE AUGUSTA, GEORGIA COMMISSION ordains as follows: SECTION 1 . AUGUSTA GA. CoDE Sections 7-3-21 through 7-3-25 as set forth in the Augusta, Ga. Code, re-adopted July 10, 2007, is hereby amended by striking this section in its entirety, as set forth in "Exhibit A" hereto, and inserting in lieu thereof new Code� Sections 7-3-21 through 7-3-25, restated as set forth in "Exhibit B" hereto. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become effective upon its adoption in accordance with applicable laws. SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. In the event the contractor does not com�lete the excavation work within seven (7) days or within anv extended time �ranted or in a satisfactorilv manner the Director of Engineering or his or her renresentative shall have the work done with Aueusta. Geor�ia forces or bv contract and shall bill the bondin comnanv of the contractor at a rate twice the actual cost. Sec. 7-3-24. Emergencv oermits. Emergencv nermits mav be obtained from the director of En�ineering or his renresentative bv telenhone and must be verified in writing within twentv-four (241 hours bv the contractor. All reauirements contained herein shall ano1X to emergencv nermits (as deemed feasible bv the director of Engineering or his re�resentative).
