HomeMy WebLinkAboutCalled Commission Meeting February 21, 2011 CALLED MEETING COMMISSION CHAMBER February 21, 2011 Augusta Richmond County Commission convened at 12:00 Noon, Monday, February 21, 2011, the Honorable Deke Copenhaver, Mayor, presiding. PRESENT: Hons. Lockett, Guilfoyle, Mason, Smith, Hatney, Aitken, Johnson, Jackson, Bowles and Brigham, members of Augusta Richmond County Commission. Mayor Copenhaver called the meeting to order. Mr. Mayor: Mr. MacKenzie. 1.LEGAL MEETING A. Pending and potential litigation B. Real estate C. Personnel Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to go into a closed legal meeting for pending and potential litigation, personnel and a real estate. Mr. Smith: Motion made. Mr. Lockett: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion made and a second. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. Mayor: We are in legal. [LEGAL MEETING] Mr. Mayor: I believe we’ve got everybody back so I’ll go ahead and call the meeting back to order. Mr. MacKenzie. 2.Motion to authorize execution by the Mayor of the affidavit of compliance with Georgia’s Open Meeting Act. Mr. MacKenzie: I would entertain a motion to execute the closed meeting affidavit. Mr. Lockett: So move. Mr. Hatney: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. Commissioners will now vote by the usual sign of voting. Motion carries 10-0. Mr. Mayor: Mr. Russell, you had your – Mr. Russell: Yes. There is an item on the agenda to approve the salary of $117,500 for a new Deputy Administrator and I request your approval. Mr. Lockett: Move to approve. Mr. Hatney: Second. Mr. Mayor: We have a motion and a second. If there’s no further discussion, commissioners will – Mr. Brigham: Roll call vote, please. Mr. Mayor: Okay, a roll call vote has been requested, Madam Clerk. The Clerk: And you’re Mr. Smith, right? All right. You just got it. Okay. All right. Mr. Smith: You’ve got the right name this time? The Clerk: Just got it. I wanted to make sure. Mr. Smith: Okay. Mr. Mayor: And that’s Grady not Jimmy. The Clerk: Okay. Mr. Smith: Correct. The Clerk: A Smith by any other name is still a Smith. Mr. Smith: Oh, yeah. The Clerk: All right, Mr. Aitken. Mr. Aitken: Approve. The Clerk: Okay, yes. This is the vote of $117,500 for the Deputy Administrator’s position. Mr. Russell: Yes. The Clerk: Mr. Bowles. Mr. Bowles: Yes. The Clerk: Mr. Brigham. Mr. Brigham: No. The Clerk: Mr. Guilfoyle. Mr. Guilfoyle: Yes, please. The Clerk: Mr. Hatney. Mr. Hatney: Yes. The Clerk: Mr. Jackson. Mr. Jackson: No. The Clerk: Mr. Johnson. Mr. Johnson: Yes. The Clerk: Mr. Lockett. Mr. Lockett: Yes. The Clerk: Mr. Mason. Mr. Mason: No. The Clerk: Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith: Yes. Mr. Brigham, Mr. Jackson and Mr. Mason vote No. Motion carries 7-3. Mr. Mayor: Thank you, Madam Clerk. If there’s nothing more to come before the body, we stand adjourned. [MEETING ADJOURNED] Lena J.
