Shepard, Commissioner, H. Brigham, Commissioner, J. Carter, Downtown Development, Judge W. Fleming, Judges System, W. Hornsby, Interim Administrator, J. Wall, Attorney., D. Craig, District Attorney, R. Acree, Facilities Maintenance, L. Bonner, Clerk of Commission. ABSENT: H. Barrett, Augusta Tomorrow. MEDIA: S. Eidson, Metro Spirit, H. Coryell, Augusta Chronicle. The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. Discuss selection of choice for location of the proposed Augusta Richmond County Judicial Center. The Chairman along with Mr. Acree, Facilities Maintenance Manager disseminated a cost summary. After further discussion on the cost summary, I Mr. Kuhlke: After the meeting on last week I got the feeling that the consensus of the committee was that they wanted to pursue the 600 block of Greene Street. Have there been any thoughts or regards to considering a new location? Mr. Shepard: I think it's important that we support the members of the legal profession that have invested down here in this community that still have their offices here. They have developed primarily to the east of the courthouse and I don't think there will be much more development to the east. To me, this site is what's favored by the LDR study. I would like to make a motion that this Committee recommends to the full Commission the site as 600 Greene Street for the new Judicial Center. Mr. Beard: Second. Mr. Mays: I am reminded of Mr. Wall's previous ruling unless we're dealing with another source of funding and I don't see that in this package that we have some limitations as to how we can make projects hold. I need to make sure that we can deal with this in as smooth a way possible. This Commission made a decision based on your opinion that we had no mechanism to make situations hold because of the limitation of sales tax money. Motion carried unanimously. I Adjournment: With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned. Lena J. Bonner Clerk of Commission
