REAL ESTATE JllIEETING
COMMITTEE ROOM
July 18,2001
I
PRESENT: Hons. Bob Young, Mayor; Colclough, 1. Brigham, Mays, Kuhlke, H.
Brigham, Shepard, Beard, Cheek, Williams and Bridges, Commissioners; Jim Wall,
Attorney; Vanessa Flournoy, Staff Attorney; George Kolb, Administrator; Lena Bonner,
Clerk of Commission.
Mr. Wall: I met with Dep. Chiefs Scott and Rogers and Mike Blanchard and
we've tried to identify various pieces of property could be utilized. They were trying to
get a mile and a half circumference around the proposed new station. We asked for
properties that were greater than two acres and less than five acres in the Willis Foreman
Road area. The Fire Department feels that the first piece of property they identified is the
best piece of property. The other properties have a line of sight problems and power line
problems. The best piece is the original piece. He wants $13,500 per acre; we had it
appraised at $8,500 per acre.
Mr. Cheek: I think that this piece is the best choice and 1'd like to see us move
forward and condemn if the Attorney thinks that's necessary.
Mr. Wall: We would only have to condemn two of the four acres.
I
Mr. Mays: Do we need a motion outside to do that?
Mr. Wall: Yes. Mr. Beard, are you ready with the Widows Home?
Mr. Beard: No, not yet.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Lena J. Bonner
