REAL ESTATE MEETING
CONITvITTTEE ROOM
July 3, 200 I
I
PRESENT: Hons. Bob Young, Mayor; Colclough, J. Brigham, Mays, Kuhlke, H.
Brigham, Shepard, Beard, Cheek and Bridges, Commissioners; Jim Wall, Attorney;
George Kolb, Administrator and Lena Bonner, Clerk of Commission.
ABSENT: Hon. Williams, Commissioner.
Mr. Wall: The first thing I have is the fire station on Willis Foreman Road. I
spoke to the property owner and he will not yield at all. The appraised value was $8,500
an acre and the contract presented to him by the real estate agent was for $13,500 plus an
obligation on Augusta's part to pay for it. Mr. Gooding said there was a standing offer
from a neighbor of $1 0,000 to buy the property, and he is not willing to agree to that
either. I just need some direction from you as to how to proceed.
Mr. Cheek: I would think we need to condemn because there is not another
suitable location in that area.
Mr. Bridges: What does the Fire Department recommend?
Mr. Wall: They chose the site so I would assume that's what they want.
I
Mr. Beard: Have we asked them to look for other sites?
Mr. Wall: No, I have not asked them to do that. Would you like for me to ask
them to look at other potential sites and get some appraisals before we move on
condemnation?
It was the consensus of the Commission that this be done.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Lena J. Bonner
Clerk of Commission
