Colclough, Chairman; Smith, Co-Chairman; Hankerson and Sims, members; Steve Shepard, Attorney; Fred Russell, Administrator; Rob Sherman, License & Inspections Director; Lena Bonner, Clerk of Commission. ABSENT: Hon. Bob Young, Mayor. Also Present: Stacey Eidson of the Metro Spirit, Greg Patin ofWGAC Radio, other members of the news media and Hons. Boyles, Beard, Williams and Grantham, Commissioners. 1. Report from the License & Inspections Department regarding the fees charged for therapeutic massage licenses. (Referred from March 21 Public Services) Mr. Sherman reported that after approval for these licenses by the Commission, applicants then apply for a business license which also has an accompanying administrative fee and an occupation tax fee. He compared the fees for licenses in Augusta with those in Columbia County and Savannah. I Mr. Hankerson: 1 move that we receive this as information. Mr. Smith: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 3. New Ownership Application: A.N.05-31: A request by Tenoia 1. Powell for an on premises consumption Liquor, Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with T. 1. Powell Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a Club Nova located at 3602 MilIedgevilIe Rd. There will be dance. District 4. Super District 9. Ms. Powell: My name is Tenoia Powell and my address is 92l-D Hephzibah McBean Road, Hephzibah, Ga. Mr. Sherman: The Sheriffs Department and License Department have reviewed the application and recommend that it be approved. Mr. Hankerson: I motion for approval. Ms. Sims: Second. I Motion adopted unanimously. 4. New Ownership Application: A.N.05-32: A request by John Bryant for a retail package Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with Get N Go located at 3011 Wheeler Rd. District 7. Super District 10. I Mr. Bryant: John Bryant, 508 Foxcourt Path, Statesboro, Ga. Mr. Sherman: The Sheriffs Department and License Department have reviewed the application and recommend that it be approved. Mr. Hankerson: So move. Ms. Sims: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 5. New Ownership Application: A.N.05-33: A request by Jonavon Y. Stephens for an on premise consumption Liquor, Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with Soultry Sounds Cafe & Lounge located at 1035 Ellis St. There will be dance. District 1. Super District 9. Mr. Stephens: Jonavon Stephens, 3570 Crawfordville Drive, Augusta, Ga. Mr. Sherman: The Sheriffs Department and License Department have reviewed the application and recommend that it be approved. I Mr. Hankerson: I so move. Mr. Smith: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 6. New Ownership Application: A.N.05-34: A request by Biren Patel for a retail package Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with HVJ, LLC d/b/a First Stop Walton Way located at 2013 Walton Way. District 1. Super District 9. Mr. Patel: Biren Patel, 824 Hickman Road, Apt. D-10, Augusta, Ga. Mr. Sherman: The Sheriff's Department and License Department have reviewed the application and recommend that it be approved. Ms. Sims: So move. Mr. Hankerson: Second. I Motion adopted unanimously. 2 I 7. Approve the purchase of a new radio system for the Augusta Regional Airport to provide iucreased coverage and reliability. This is a factory direct purchase. The total system cost will be $215,040.48. Frequency coordination will be performed by McDermott Will and Emery LLP at an estimated cost of $12,500.00. McDermott Will and Emery LLP is a frequency coordination specialist and has handled the coordination of all Augusta frequencies currently utilized by our existing 800 MHz radio system. Ms. Sims: Motion to approve. Mr. Smith: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 2. Approve an amendment to Augusta Richmond County Code Title 4, Chapter 2, Section 74 to prohibit the outside storage of tires where water could accumulate in such stored tires. Mr. Sherman: This would require that any tires be covered and stored so that they are out of the weather and do not become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. I Mr. Hankerson: I move for approval.
