Colclough, Chairman; Smith, Co-Chairman; Sims and Hankerson, members; Fred Russell, Interim Administrator; Rob Sherman, License & Inspections Director; Tom Beck, Recreation Dept. Director; Lena Bonner, Clerk of Commission. ABSENT: Hons. Bob Young, Mayor. Also Present: Sylvia Cooper of the Augusta Chronicle, George Eskola ofWJBF Television, other members of the news media and Hon. Mays, Grantham and Williams, Commissioners. 1. Discussion: A request by Grace H. Smitb for a Therapeutic Massage License to be used in connection with Paradise Island Day Spa located at 210-F Robert C. Daniel Parkway. District 3. Super District 10. Mr. Sherman: My name is Grace Harrison Smith and my address is 6020 Neil Brown Road, Harlem, Ga. I Mr. Sherman: We have reviewed the application and recommend that it be approved. There are no objectors. Ms. Sims: I so move. Mr. Smith: Second. Motion adopted unanimously with Mr. Hankerson out. 2. Discussion: A request by Ashley L. White for a Therapeutic Massage License to be used in connection with Massage At the Verandah located at 3604 Verandah Drive. District 3. Super District 10. Mr. Sherman: We would like to postpone this one until August 9. We have a couple of things we need to get information on if that's all right. Ms. Sims: I so move. Mr. Smith: Second. Motion adopted unanimously with Mr. Hankerson out. I 3. Discussion: A request by Daniel T. Perry for a Sunday Sales License to be used in connection with D. Timms Jazz Cafe, LLC located at 302 6th Street. There will be Sunday sales. District 1. Super District 9. 1 Mr. Perry: My name is Daniel T. Perry, 1008 Bluebird Road, Augusta, Ga. I Mr. Sherman: We have reviewed his application and it meets the requirements for Sunday sales and we recommend that it be approved. Ms. Sims: I so move. Mr. Smith: Second. Motion adopted unanimously with Mr. Hankerson out. 4. Update from the Administrator regarding Mr. Wi! Brown's claim against the Aquatic Center. (Requested by Commissioner Williams) Mr. Russell: Since this involves both litigation and personnel issues, I would like to suggest that we cover this under the legal session. Ms. Sims: I move that we refer this to the legal meeting on Thursday. Mr. Smith: Second. Motion adopted unanimously with Mr. Hankerson.out. I 5. Update from the Recreation Department regarding the implementation of a swim league. (Requested by Commissioner Williams) Mr. Beck: We have attended two additional meetings with the Highland Park Neighborhood Association and they are using daily swim passes at the Aquatic Center sponsored by Mr. Hankerson. We have also distributed some flyers throughout the neighborhood regarding the programs and swim times for the Center. Weare promoting a swim league for both the Highland Park and Valley Park areas for the fall/winter season so we hope this will help with communication with both of these groups. Mr. Williams: I talked with Mr. Timothy Sanders about implementing some type of swimming instruction program for the youth. I was not able to get in touch with him to corne to this meeting and I would ask that he be allowed to corne to the next meeting to discuss this. Mr. Beck: I would appreciate meeting with him.
