Sherman, License & Inspections Director; Tom Beck, Recreation Department Director; Lena Bonner, Clerk of Commission. ABSENT: Hon. Bob Young, Mayor. Also Present: George Eskola ofWJBF Television, Sylvia Cooper of the Augusta Chrorucle, Stacey Eidson of the Metro Spirit and Hons. Williams and Hankerson, COmrIDssioners. 1. Presentation from Mr. David Fields of Radio Taxi Cab Co. regarding a Taxi Cab rate increase. At this time Mr. Fields appeared before the committee regarding the above request for an increase in the total amount of $1.80 per mile or $ .30 per one-sixth mile. Mr. Smith: I move that we approve it. Ms. Sims: Second. After a short discussion, Mr. Williams expressed his desire to approve this and also discuss it and other issues further in a sub-committee format. Mr. Smith: I'll add that to the motion. Motion adopted unanimously. 2. Approve one year renewal July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005 of the Governmental Lease Agreement between Augusta Ga. and the Department of Navy regarding the Naval & Marine Corps Reserve Center on Central Ave. Mr. Smith: I move for approval. Ms. Sims: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 3. Discussion: A request by Sandi Watkins for a one day special events Beer License to be used in connection with Vie's Annual Block Party located in the 500 block of Ellis St District 1. Super District 9. 1 Ms. Watkins: Sandi Watkins, 2811 Bethel Place, Augusta, Ga. I . Mr. Sherman: The Sheriff's Department and the License Department have reviewed the application and recommend approval. There are no objectors. Ms. Srruth: So move. Ms. Sims: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 4. Discussion:: A request by George Harrison for a Sunday Sales License to be used in connection with The Boll Weevil Cafe & Sweetery located at #10 Ninth Street. There will be Sunday Sales. District 1. Super Disrict 9. Mr. Harrison: George Harrison, 2165 Telfair Street, Augusta, Ga. Mr. Sherman: The Sheriff's Department and the License Department have reviewed the application and it meets the requirements. There are no objectors. Mr. Srruth: I move for approval. Ms. Sims: Second. I Motion adopted unanimously. 5. New Application: A. N. 04-22: A request by Harold Cook for a retail package Beer & Wine License to be used in connection with C & M Grocery located at 619 East Boundary. District 1. Super District 9. Mr. Cook: Harold Cook, 843 Forsythe Street, Augusta, Ga. Mr. Sherman: The Sheriff's Department and the License Department have reviewed the application and we recommend that it be approved. There are no objectors present. Ms. Sirns: I so move. Mr. Srruth: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 6. New Ownership: A.N. 04-23: A request by John Eang for a retail package Beer & Wine License to be used in connection with Circle J. located at 3020 Tobacco Rd. District 8. Super District 10. Mr. Sherman: The Sheriffs Department and the License Department have reviewed the application and we recommend approval subject to the same conditions that were originally approved with this application which included a fence and security lighting. There are no objectors. Mr. Smith: I move for approval. Ms. Sims: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 7. New Ownership: A. N. 04-24: A request by Donald R. Wooldridge for a retail package Beer & Wine License to be used in connection with Bi-Rite Food Store located at 5258 Mike Padgett Hwy. ~istrict 8. Super District 10. Mr. Wooldridge: My name is Donald Wooldridge and I live at 3450 Linderwood Drive, Augusta, Ga. Mr. Sherman: The Sheriffs Department and the License Department have reviewed the application and recommend approval. There are no objectors. Mr. Smith: I move for approval. Ms. Sims: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 8. New Ownership: A. N. 04-25: A request by J. Lee Jackson for a Wholesale Beer License to be used in connection with Beverage South, LLC located at 1815 Wilkinson Rd. District 6. Super District 10. Mr. Sherman: The applicant on #8 is not here. Mr. Chairman: We can take it up at the end of the meeting. 9. Motion to approve bid item 04-079, color coating of Tennis Courts at Newman Tennis Center, to Hasley Recreation and Design in the amount of $21,168. After a short discussion, Mr. Hankerson: We want to be sure that we're giving clear information to all the bidders both through the bids that are sent out and the information that is available on the internet. 3 " .co:,. . ;~J~.
