Mays, Chairman; Bridges, Co-Chairman; Kuh1ke, member; Jim Wall, Attorney; George Ko1b, Administrator; Fred Russell and Walter Hornsby, Deputy Administrators; Tammy Strange, Asst. Finance Director; Donna Williams, Asst. Finance Director; Rob Sherman, License & Inspections Director; Geri Sams, Purchasing Director; Richard Elim, Sheriffs Department; Nancy Morawski, Deputy Clerk of Commission. ABSENT: Hons. Bob Young, Mayor; Colclough, member. Also Present: Heidi Williams of The Augusta Chronicle, Stacey Eidson of the Metro Spirit; George Esko1a ofWffiF Television; other members of the news media and Hons. Williams and Cheek, Commissioners. 6. Discussion: A request by Augusta Richmond County's License & Inspection Department for a hearing to consider the possible probation, suspension or revocation of the Alcohol license held by Jerri Danforth for Jerri's Place located at 660 Broad Street for the following violation: failure to file excise tax returns. District 1. Super District 9. Mr. Sherman: This has been taken care of and we need to delete it from the agenda. Mr. Kuh1ke: I so move. Mr. Bridges: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 2. New Ownership Application: A.N. 03-40: A request by Hee Ra Choi for a retail package Liquor license to be used in connection with AJN, Inc. d/b/a Kissingbower Liquor Store located at 1775 Kissingbower Road. District 2. Super District 9. Ms. Choi: My name is Hee Ra Choi and my address is 1088 Severn Drive, Evans, Georgia. Mr. Sherman: There are no objectors. The License Department and Sheriff s Department have reviewed the application and recommend approval. Mr. Kuh1ke: So move. Mr. Bridges: Second. 1 Motion adopted unanimously. 3. New Ownership Application: A.N.03-41: A request by Hee Ra Choi for a retail package Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with AJN, Inc. d/b/a Ku's Party Center located at 1773 Kissingbower Road. District 2. Super District 9. Ms. Choi: My name is Hee Ra Choi and my address is 1088 Severn Drive, Evans, Georgia. Mr. Sherman: There are no objectors present. The License and Sheriffs Department have reviewed the application and recommend approval. Mr. Bridges: So move. Mr. Kuhlke: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 4. New Application: A.N.03-42: A request by Shewangizaw F. Mariam for a retail package Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with E T Food Store located at 503 East Boundary. District 1. Super District 9. Mr. Mariam: My name is S. F. Mariam and my address is 616 Weed Street, Augusta, Ga. Mr. Sherman: There are no objectors present. The Sheriffs Department and License Department have reviewed the application and recommend that it be approved. Mr. Bridges: So move. Mr. Kuhlke: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 7. Motion to approve bid item #03-128, roof replacement at the Old Government House, for $22,937 to Thomson Roofing. Mr. Bridges: I move we accept the low bid and only bid. Mr. Kuhlke: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 8. Approve the transfer of $15,000 from airport contingency fund to the airport marketing fund. 2 I Mr. Bridges: I make the motion we approve since I understand that's the airport contingency. Mr. Kuhlke: I'll second that. Motion adopted unanimously. 1. Consider a request by Mr. Chuck Ballas, Jr. of Luigi's Restaurant to discuss the implementation of a pro-rated Sunday liquor sales license exclusively for both Sundays during Masters week. At this time the Committee heard a presentation from Mr. Ballas, Mr. Todd Schaffer of the Bistro Restaurant and other restaurant owners regarding their proposal for a pro-rated license for the two Sundays surrounding Masters week. After a discussion ofthe matter, Mr. Kuhlke: I move that we receive this as information and that the Chairman appoint a committee from the Commission and that the restaurant owners appoint a couple of people to represent their group and get with the attorney and let them come back to us with either an amendment to the ordinance or a separate ordinance. I Mr. Bridges: Second. Mr. Chairman: We might also want to get someone from the Sheriffs Department staff to work with them. Mr. Kuhlke: That's fine. Motion adopted unanimously. Mr. Chairman: I'm going to appoint Mr. Cheek as Chairman, Mr. Kuhlke and myself and we'll try to get something together over the course of the next thirty days. Mr. Ballas volunteered to be the contact person for the restaurant owners. 5. Discussion: A request by the Richmond County Sheriff's Department for a hearing to consider the possible probation, suspension or revocation of the Alcohol license held by Brenda Johnson for Club Malibu located at 1511 North Leg Road for the following violation: excessive noise. District 3. Super District 10. I At this time Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and their attorney, Terrance Sommers, appeared before the Committee and asked that this matter be continued to a later date in order to call witnesses and to take care of a Magistrate Court matter scheduled for October 30. He noted that the Johnsons are in the process of making improvements to 3 the business to address the concerns about the complaints regarding the noise eminating from the club. Mr. Wall stated that he had no objection to continuing the matter as long as no one from the Sheriffs Department or License Department had an objection. After further discussion, Mr. Bridges: I move that we hold this until the next committee meeting and that will give them two weeks plus the next week when it goes to the Commission meeting to get it corrected. Mr. Kuhlke: I'll second. Motion adopted unanimously. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Nancy W.
