Director; Larry Harris, License & Inspections Department; Lena Bonner, Clerk of Commission. ABSENT: Hons. Bob Young, Mayor and Kuhlke, member. Also Present: Heidi Williams of The Augusta Chronicle, Stacey Eidson of The Metropolitan Spirit, George Eskola ofWJBF Television, Shawn Norris of The Augusta Focus, other members of the news media and Hons. Boyles, Beard, Williams, Hankerson and Cheek, Commissioners. 1. New Ownership: A.N. 02-50: A request by Christopher Long for an on premise consumption Liquor, Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with Stool Pigeons Coop & Pizza located at 277 Robert C. Daniel Parkway. There will be Sunday sales. District 3. Super District 10. (Deferred from November 25 Public Services) Mr. Long: I am Chris Long, 12518 Bannock Drive, Charlotte, NC. I Mr. Sherman: There are no objectors and the License & Inspections Department and Sheriffs Department recommend approval. Mr. Colclough: I move for approval. Mr. Bridges: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 2. Mr. Chu: My name is Young Chu of 1811 Hartcourt Drive, Hephzibah, GA. Mr. Sherman: There are objectors here for this. (7 objectors noted) I 2 I A delegation from Whispering Pines Baptist Church appeared before the committee objecting to the issuance of a license to this location based on its proximity to the neighborhood areas and the resulting disturbances regarding loitering and traffic problems. Mr. Colclough: I move that this application be denied. Mr. Bridges: I'll second that. Mr. Sherman: The location does meet the distance requirements. Mr. Wall: There is other criteria that was also mentioned that the Commission can consider. It is in the area of the schools and Diamond Lakes. Mr. Chairman: What are the distances to establishments in the area? Mr. Harris: Whispering Pines Church is 968 yards away and it is 528 yards to Willis Foreman Elementary School. It is 2,484 yards to Grace Assembly of God, 2,112 yards to Diamond Lakes Park and 1,672 yards to Faith Outreach Christian Life Center. After further discussion, the motion was adopted unanimously. I 6. New Application: A.T.02-56: A request by Lisa Sanchez for an on premise consumption Liquor, Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with Veracruz Mexican Restaurant located at 3216 Peach Orchard Road. There will be Sunday sales. District 8. Super District 10. Mr. Sanchez: I'm Emilio Sanchez, 2218 Woodward Avenue, Augusta, GA. Mr. Sherman: There are no objectors and the License Department and Sheriffs Department recommend approval. Mr. Colclough: So move. Mr. Bridges: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 7. New Ownership: A.N.02-57: A request by Chong Hui Ryan for an on premise consumption Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with Arirang Korean Restaurant located at 3008 Deans Bridge Road. There will be Sunday sales. District 2. Super District 9. I Ms. Ryan: Chong Hui Ryan, 3117 Mike Padgett Hwy., Augusta, Ga. Mr. Sherman: There are no objectors here. The License Department and 3 Sheriff s Department recommend approval. Mr. Colclough: So move. I Mr. Bridges: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 8. New Ownership: A.N.02-58: A request by Dong W. Chong for an on premise consumption Liquor, Beer & Wine license to be used in connection with Golden Garden Lounge located at 3253-B Deans Bridge Road. District 5. Super District 9. Mr. Sherman: There will also be a dance hall but no Sunday sales. Mr. Chong: Dong W. Chong, 3704 Beacon Hill Drive, Hephzibah, GA. Mr. Sherman: There are no objectors present. The Sheriffs Department and License Department recommend approval. Mr. Bridges: So move. Mr. Colclough: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. I 9. Super District 9. Ms. Thompson: My name is Bok Cha Thompson and I live at 2452 Tobacco Road, Hephzibah, GA. Mr. Sherman: There are no objectors present. The License Department and Sheriffs Department recommend approval. Mr. Colclough: So move. Mr. Bridges: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 10. I 5 Ms. Prickett: Regina J. Prickett, 365 N. Hatcher Street, Harlem, GA. I Mr. Sherman: There are no objectors present. The License Department and Sheriffs Department recommend approval. Mr. Bridges: I move for approval. Mr. Colclough: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. 14. Approve an ordinance amendment to Augusta Richmond County Code Section 7-1-90 (C) (2) providing for the increase in the dollar amount - based on cost of labor and materials - for when a permit is required. Mr. Sherman: We have increased the threshold amount as you had requested from $100 to $500. Mr. Colclough: I move for approval. Mr. Bridges: Second. Mr. Wall: This would go into effect on January I and you may want to waive the second reading and make that part of the motion. I Mr. Colclough: We can do that. Motion adopted unanimously.
