Mr. Sherman: The L&1 Dept, and the Sheriff's Dept. have reviewed the application and recommend approval. (No objectors) Mr. Colclough: So move for approval. Mr. Kuhlke: Second. Discnssion: A rcquest by Augusta Richmond County's License & Inspections Department to renew the Alcohol Beverage Licenses of all currcnt license holders in Augnsta Richmond County including the Adult Entertainment Establishments. There will be dance halls. There will he Sunday sales. Districts 1 through 8. Super Districts 9 & 10. I Mr. Sherman: Ifl could amend the request to include arcades. 3 Mr. Colclough: So move for approval. Mr. Kuhlke: Second. ---'1 Mr. Cheek: Have we reviewed the list of all the problem areas? Mr. Sherman: The ones that were placed on probation over the past year are off probation. Except for Jack's Grocery was on 30-days suspension and a year probation that will go through 2003 (inaudible) Convenience Store and Package Shop. His probationary period ended on September 17. Everyone else who was placed on probation, Red Lion, Super C's have completed probation and found to be in compliance. We had a few businesses that were not current with the excise taxes. Several of them came in this morning and are now current. At this time there are three businesses, two owners, who are more than two months behind in paying their excise taxes. We have notified them and what we do is refuse to issue their license in December in they are not current with their excise taxes. Mr. Kuhlke: Do you look into property taxes, also to make sure that they have paid their property taxes? Mr. Sherman: No we don't. Mr. Kuhlke: 1 would like to ask the maker of the motion if he would amend his motion that we approve everything subject to corning current on excise taxes and property taxes. I Mr. Colclough: So amended. Mr. Sherman: The Tax Commissioners office has a new software package that we can access on new business licenses. We're checking to see that al1 property taxes' are current before we issue a business license. On the current licenses, we'll have to go back through them. Mr. Mays: Can you bring back to the next Commit lee meeting information on those businesses that are not current on property taxes? Mr. Sherman: Yes we can do that. Mr. Mays: Jim, are we working on any procedures for a payment plan? Mr. Wal1: The Commission has instructed us to look at developing guidelines for businesses that do business with the county as far as what kind of payment plans, whether we were going to require payment plans, what those payment plans would be. We're supposed to bring that back by the first of the year. We don't have anything to present at this time on that. (Deferred from November 11 Public Services) Mr. Lai: Kwok K Lai, 2491 McDowell St, Apt C, Augusta. Mr. Sherman: The L&1 Dept, and the Sheriff's Dept. have reviewed the application. This was delayed from the November 11 meeting because the Sheriff's Dept wanted to do additional research. The Sheriff's Dept. and the L&1 Department recommend approval.
