Discussion of removal of old and burned out mobile homes. (Requested by Commissioner Cheek) Mr. Cheek: My district along with several other districts have burned out and abandoned mobile homes that are non-livable. I've been working with Code Enforcement and it's my understanding that we're doing all that we can at this point but we're talking years to get these people to clean up. What I'm wanting to do is to find out what other legal means we have to get these removed and disposed of. I Mr. Wall: The new stature that will go into effect July I that deals with these type of structures which will allow a more efficient and faster method of being able to remove them. The problem is going to be the up front cash to move these off. And the second part of it is going to be if we have to put a lein against the property and take the property because the property owner is not willing to pay the cost for getting it removed. If these mobile homes are in a residential area and the residents expect the property to be maintained there will be some additional cost for Public Works. Mr. Kolb convened a committee for the purpose of dealing with situations like this in other housing. The cost is going to be an issue until the money is appropriated both up front until we can sell the property and then maintaining the property if we have to acquire them. Mr. Kolb: This is a big issue and it's a resource issue. So we're trying to take each component of it and trying to deal with and hopefully by this fall we'll be able to recommend something for next years budget that will specifically address this issue. Mr. Brigham: I move we receive this as information. Mr. Kuhlke: Second. Motion carried unanimously.
