I Discussion of New Savannah Bluff Lock & Dam Park damages. Mr. Beck: As you are aware, considerable damages occurred at New Savannah Bluff Lock & Dam Park as a result of the water takedown on the Savannah River. The park is operated by our department through a lease with the U.S. Army COI}! of Engineers, who own the park. After evaluating the damages and realizing the water level would be at it's lowest point and the river would begin rising again, it was determined the best course of action would be to perform as much shoreline restoration and removal of damaged facilities as possible while the water was . down. This decision was based on the safety of the park areas as well as being more efficient [mancially to perform the repairs. What I would like for you to do is give me thirty days to come up with an acrual cost estimate to replace everything that has been destroyed. We have an actual cost right now of$63,000 that our city has to pay for. If you would allow me to work toward the [mal outcome of restoring everything at the same time. I do want to make sure that we get our governments $63,000 back. Mr. Mays: I think that at the next Commission meeting that we need to recognize persons . in his area and Public Works that worked so diligently to clean up the area. 1 do think that you need to fast track some of the other damages that are visible at least from a cost standpoint than the thirty-day time period. We also need to look into redoing another lease agreement out there. Mr. Oliver: Our focus right now is solely to deal with the Lock & Dam and the cost for repairs and not beyond that. I I Mr. Kuhlke: I move we receive this as information. Mr. Brigham: Second. Motion carried unanimously. ',,:'.-. Discussion of junk car ordinance. Mr. Cheek: I have received several phone calls from citizens about the junk car ordinance. I would like to know where we stand. Mr. Oliver: We did the first sighting last week. We decided that we wanted to exercise the three-day period. We sent out a Marshal and one person from Code Enforcement. We will start towing this week. Frankly, we want to find out what challenges we have as part of this ordinance and to see what happens and make sure before we start doing this on a full scale basis that we have all the kinks worked out. Mr. Sherman: We are going to start in the Farrington subdivision. Mr. Knhlke: So move to receive this as information. Mr. Brigham: Second. Motion carried nnanimously.
