PRESENT: Hons. Williams, Chairman; Boyles, Co-Chairman; Shepard and
Beard, members; Jim Wall, Attorney; George Kolb, Administrator; Fred Russell, Deputy
Administrator; Chief Al Gillespie, Fire Department; Dep. Chief Mike Rogers, Fire
Department; Lena Bonner, Clerk of Commission.
ABSENT: Hon. Bob Young, Mayor.
Also Present: Hons. Bridges, Colclough and Hankerson, Coriunissioners.
1. Discuss surcharges to general public regarding assistance requests from
Public Safety entities within Augusta-Richmond County Government.
(Referred from January 7 Commission)
Mr. Russell: We have come up with a schedule of charges that we thought might
be appropriate for services rendered for assistance requests. This would include things
such as extrications and these would be used in non-emergency cases involving the Fire
Department.

After a discussion of the matter, Mr. Beard: I'm going to make a motion to
appoint a sub-committee to work with the Chief to work out something acceptable to both
the Fire Department and the Commission.
Mr. Boyles: I'll second that.
Mr. Chairman: I'll appoint the sub-committee with Mr. Boyles as Chairman and
Mr. Beard to work with the Chief and anyone else that should be involved to come back
with a recommendation.
Motion adopted unanimously.
2. Recognitions of Sgt. Stephen Parish and Firefighter Nicholas Costello for
their performance and professionalism in the rescue and care of Mr. Ballard
at the scene of a structure fire.
Chief Gillespie: We just want approval to take it from this committee to the
Commission.
Mr. Beard: I so move.
Mr. Shepard: Second.
