The good news is that the traffic lights will operate and the utility system will work. Obviously we are dependant upon people like Georgia Power, Bell South, all the utility . companies. We have three or four things from a public safety standpoint aren't criticaL but from our standpoint are. !vir. Rushton has a contingency plan on the things that we are still working on, except one, but we believe that one will be done well in advance of the end of the year. The focal point for the contingency plan will be the EMA Director as it relates to backup. Our biggest concern is that we get a significant number of calls to the 911 Center on New Years eve. The hospital also expressed the same concern as it relates to telephone lines. So what we want to do is set up an inforrnationalline so that people can call and we'll probably use the Citizen Response number to do that. At this time !vir. Rushton presented the Y2K update. Mr. Kuhlke: So move to receive as information. Mr. Shepard: Second. Motion carried unanimously. I A request to approve agreement between Augusta and CSRA Probation Services, Inc. for CSRA Probation Services to recover payment or reimbursement from indigent defendants who have received legal assistance in exchange for compensation to CSR.-\ Probation of 35% of all monies collected. The cost will be $18,200 and we recommend approval. Mr. Shepard: So move. lv1r. Kuhlke: Second. Motion carried unanimously. With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned. Lena J.
