Brigham, Co- Chairman; Bridges and Williams, members; Jim Wall, Attorney; Walter Hornsby, Interim Administrator; Dave Dlugolenski, EMA Director; Brenda Byrd-Pelaez, Human Resources Director; Donna Williams, Interim Comptroller; Tom Beck, Recreation Dept. Director; Sonny Reece, Tax Assessor; Lena Bonner, Clerk of Commission and Nancy Morawski, Deputy Clerk of Commission. Also Present: George Eskola ofWJBF Television, Stacey Eidson of The Metropolitan Spirit, Heidi Coryell of The Augusta Chronicle, other members of the news media and Hons. Cheek, 1. Brigham, Mays and Beard, Commissioners. A request to approve resolution exercising option to extend term of Public Purpose Lease with Richmond County Facilities, Inc. for a period of one year. (COPS issue), was read. Mr. Bridges: I move for approval. Mr. Chairman: I'll second it for discussion. I Motion adopted unanimously. A request for refund of 1996, 1997 and 1998 taxes in the amount of $46,068.30 to Atlanta Gas Light for overpayment of taxes on Account 0585507, was read. A request for refund of 1996, 1997 and 1998 taxes in the amount of $12,374.15 to Atlanta Gas Light for overpayment of taxes on account 2006687, was read. A request for refund of 1996, 1997 and 1998 taxes in the amount of $154.04 to Atlanta Gas Light for overpayment of taxes on Account 2006688, was read. A request for refund of 1996, 1997 and 1998 taxes in the amount of $359.18 to Atlanta Gas Light for overpayment of taxes on account 2006689, was read. After a short discussion, Mr. Bridges: I move for approval. Mr. Williams: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. I At this time the Committee heard a presentation by Mr. Bill Maddox and Mr. Harry Dolyniuk of the Augusta Coliseum Authority regarding their current financial report. I After a discussion of the report, Mr. Bridges: I move we receive this as information. Mr. Williams: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. A request to approve contract with Development Authority of Richmond County for year 2001 at a cost of $96,500.00, was read. Mr. Bridges: I so move. Mr. Chairman: I'll second it. Motion adopted unanimously. A request to approve execution of Quit-Claim Deeds, was read. Mr. Bridges: I so move. Mr. Williams: I second for discussion. I Motion adopted unanimously. A request to approve lease agreement for calendar year 2001 for the Tag Office of the Tax Commissioner at the Farmer's Market, was read. Mr. Bridges: I so move. Mr. Williams: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. A request to approve abatement of year 2000 property taxes of $54.60 and penalty of $5.46 on 1118 Davidson, for a total of $60.06, was read. Mr. Bridges: I move for approval. Mr. Williams: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. I A request to abandon a portion of Saybrook Drive, was read. I Mr. Wall: This is the first of a series of steps to abandon part of Saybrook Drive in Belair Hills. It is shown on the plat as Parcels 1 and 2. After a short discussion, Mr. Bridges: I move for approval. Mr. Chairman: I second it. Motion adopted unanimously. A request to approve Contract of Sale on 3103 Chelsea Drive, 1903 Farris Street and 229 Delmont Street, was re2d. Mr. Wall: These are properties being acquired under the grant Dave is administering, and the grant agreement requires the contracts to be approved. Mr. Bridges: I move for approval. Mr. Williams: Second. Mr. Dlugolenski: These will be done one at a time and we will submit those costs and then be reimbursed. I Motion adopted unanimously. A request to approve waiving property taxes for 1929 Walton Way. (Augusta Boxing Club), was read. Mr. Bridges: I so move. Mr. Williams: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. A request to consider proposal from Bennett & Associates regarding national search for Finance Director, was read. Mr. Mayor: We may wish to have this company considered for this search as well as other companies if you desire. Mr. Wall: You would probably want to first determine what the pay grade is as far as the classification goes. I Ms. Pelaez: We could probably come back with that at the next committee meeting. Mr. Bridges: I move that we accept this as information and have the information back at the next meeting. Mr. Williams: Second. I Motion adopted unanimously. The Committee next discussed Georgia Municipal Association annual dues. Mr. Mayor: GMA has been charging us for dues for the last five years based on the population numbers for the old City. Mr. Beard: I was appointed to a study committee for GMA to look at how the dues structure could be handled. They are looking at eventually increasing dues and the concern is how it would be handled for the three consolidated governments in Georgia. Also, we would consider how this affects us since we also pay dues to ACCG. We had talked about paying $12,000 and have already prepaid this for this year. After further discussion, Mr. Bridges: I move we receive this as information. Mr. Williams: Second. Motion adopted unanimously.
