A request to consider abatement of penalty and interest for 1996 business
asset tax bill for BakerHydro Filtrations, Inc., was read.
Mr. Wall: Through their attorney to me they have furnished an amended return
for 1996. They are asking the Commission to recompute based upon new values for the
fixed aSl:lets. The return filed by the old company listed machinery and equipment at
$846,125 whereas the allocation of the purchase price used by BakerHydro Filtrations
when they purchased it attributed only $114,987. On the furniture and fixtures the figure
that was on the original '96 return was $46,360 and they're asking for a value of $6,299
which is the cost allocation made at the time of closing in February of '96. On the lease
hold improvements the original figure was $6,613 and they're asking for a valuation of
$858 which would give a total under their valuation of$122,144.
Mr. Williamson: The total amount due is $2239.57.
Mr. Bridges: I make a motion that we seek what I think is a fair and equitable
