Approve the purchase of one IS-Passenger Van for the Recreation Department from Augusta Dodge at a cost of $22,672.50 (low bid), was read. A request to approve the purchase of one Work Detail Van for the Public Department, Operations-Maintenance Section from Augusta Dodge at a cost of $22,672.50 (low bid), was read. A request to approve the purchase of one Prisoner Transport Van for the Marshal's Department from Augusta Dodge at a cost of $22,672.50 (low bid), was reaci. I A request to approve the purchase of two Prisoner Transport Vans for the Sheriff's Department from Augusta Dodge at a cost of $ 22,672.50 (low bid), was read. A request to approve the purchase of one Cargo Van for the Public Works Department-Facilities Maintenance Section from Augusta Dodge at a cost of $22,672.50 (low bid), was reaci. 6. Approve the purchase of one-IS-passenger Van for the Fire Department, from Love Chevrolet at a cost of $27,748.60. (Low Bid), was read. 7. Approve the purchase of two Work Detail Vans for the Trees & Landscape Department from Augusta Dodge at a cost of $24,779.45 (each), was read. 8. Approve the purchase of one Crew Cab Truck for the Recreation Department (Bid 99-152) from Pontiac Masters in the amount of $28,346 (Low Bid), was read. 9. Approve the purchase of a Wheeled Tractor for the Richmond County Correction Institute (Bid 00-051) from Meeks Tractor at a cost of $13,000 (Low Bid), was read. I A request to approve the purchase of a TractorlLoaderrrrencher for the Trees and Landscape Department (Bid 00-052) from Meeks Tractor at a cost of $20,700 (Low Bid), I was read. 11. Approve the purchase of a Wheeled Tractor for the Recreation Department (Bid 00-051) from Meeks Tractor at a cost of $13,000 (Low Bid), was read. 12. Approve the purchase of a Bucket Truck for the Public Works Department-Traffic Engineering (Bid 00-049) from Isuzu Trucks at a cost of $61,981 (Low Bid), was read. A request to approve the purchase of two (2) Ford Crown Victoria Automobiles for the Sheriff's Department-Canine Patrol at a cost of $20,592.60 (only vehicles available), was read. Mr. Oliver: The automobiles on the last item would be purchased through a grant and we would be responsible for ongoing maintenance, gas, etc. They are about $300 higher than our purchase, but we believe the price to be a reasonable one. Mr. Bridges: I move for approval. Mr. Shepard: I second that motion. Motion adopted unanimously with Mr. Williams out of the room. I A request to hire a consultant to provide technical assistance to prepare annual report and semi-annual publications, was read. Mr. Oliver: This will be for the annual report plus the two quarterly publications, and we have used one consultant in the past. The cost would be about $15,000. Mr. Bridges: I make a motion that we use the consultant that we used in the past with the stipulation that the cost not exceed $15,000. Mr. H. Brigham: I second. Motion adopted unanimously with Mr. Williams out of the room. A request to approve new signature cards for Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field, was read. Mr. Bridges: I move as printed in the agenda item. Mr. Chairman: I'll second the motion. I Motion adopted unanimously with Mr. Williams out of the room. I 16. Approve the purchase of four (4) patrol motorcycles for the Sheriff's Department (Bid 00-5050) from Vic's Harley Davidson at a cost of $14,995 each (Sole Bid), was read. ;.~ Mr. Bridges: I move for approval. Mr. H. Brigham: Second. Motion adopted unanimously with Mr. Williams out of the room. lVlr. Siddall: On item #2 the caption listed the vehicle less than what it actually is. I Mr. Bridges: I so move. Mr. H. Brigham: Second. Motion adopted unanimously with Mr. Williams out of the room. A request from Augusta Tomorrow to participate in the Center City Master Plan Study. (Requested by Commissioner Shepard), was read. A request from Augusta Tomorrow for reconsideration of budget 2000 allocation. (Requested by Commissioner Shepard), was read. At this time Mr. Julian Osbon and Mr. Monte Osteen of Augusta Tomorrow appeared before the Committee to present their request for participation by the City in the Center City Master Plan Study and for a restoration of the 2000 budget allocation. After a lengthy discussion, Mr. Bridges: I would make a motion that we pass this on to the full Commission for approval without recommendation. Mr. Williams: I second it. Motion adopted unanimously. I Mr. Oliver: On the purchase of the vehicles we need to make some corrections on some items that I didn't do correctly. Mr. Wall: We need to reconsider Items 3,4,5 and 10 and place the vendor in 13. Mr. Bridges: I make a motion that we reconsider those items. Mr. H. Brigham: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. [Correct Caption: 3. Mr. Oliver: We've gotten the RFP's in for bond underwriters and I wanted to fmd out if you wanted us to go through those, evaluate the proposals and make a recommendation. Mr. H. Brigham: I move we add this to the agenda to discuss. Mr. Bridges: Second. Motion adopted unanimously. I I I I After a short discussion, it was the consensus of the Committee that the Administrator and staff would evaluate the proposals down to the top three and invite any Commissioner who wishes to be in attendance at that meeting. They will then bring the top three proposals forward and the final choice Will be made. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. H Lena J.
